🧵Thumbnail won't get you clicks, your title will..

But everyone fucks up their title even though it's the MOST IMPORTANT PART of a video.

So here's how to ACTUALLY write GREAT titles (thread):

1. Psychological Triggers

Your words MUST trigger some kind of an emotion that will lead to a click.

Don't use your titles to describe your video, use them to GET CLICKS

Here are some key psychological triggers that you can use:

- Conflict
- Surprise
- Identity
- Time pressure
- Secrets
- Contradiction
- Status

Examples:

Conflict: Why This Billionaire Hates Tesla

Surprise: Surviving Monaco For 30 Days With $1

Identity: Every Brokie Makes This Dumb Mistake

Secrets: YouTube Secret NOBODY Talks About

2. One-up your competitors

I'm not going to tell you to research your competitors, you should already be doing that. If not, go back to the basics

But when researching, take note of the titles that your competitors used, and try to come up with a more extreme/better version of that

Example:

Competitor 1: Surviving Monaco With $1
You: Surviving Monaco For 30 Days With $1

Competitor 2: How I Study 8 Hours A Day
You: How I Study 16 Hours A Day

3. Write multiple titles

Having a bigger basket to choose from will never hurt you

Spend some time coming up with different versions of a title, you can even use AI to help you out

Once you have more options, you'll know what to actually grabs your attention (and by proxy will also grab viewers' attention)

4. Make it visual

Viewers should immediately be able to visualize your title,

BUT..

That's only the first step of the equation.

It's also important that whatever the viewers visualize will incentive them to click

Let's say your video's title is: "How I Study 22 Hours Every Day"

Yes, viewers can visualize that. But they're visualizing a non-social life, sleep deprivation, no motivation and terrible health.

Is that what they want? No, so they won't click, because it's not relatable.

5. Research

This means researching your niche, your viewers and your competitors

All of the steps above mean nothing if you aren't putting in the work into figuring out your audience

Because there is no one rule for all, but you can find answers to your own specific case by researching your audience

Understand what they want, what they desire, what makes them click, what makes then watch, etc
