🧵 YouTube is ignoring you.

And that is stopping your channel from growing.

Here's how to fix it: (thread)

When you upload a video, YouTube doesn’t just throw it into the void and hope someone clicks. It compares your video to others that could be shown to the same audience.

If your video performs worse in that competition, it gets abandoned. If it performs better, it gets more impressions.

It’s a constant battle for viewer attention and the best man (or woman) wins.
3
This means you’re fighting the most attention-grabbing thumbnails, the most clickable titles, and the best retention curves from every other creator in your niche.

And here’s the harsh truth: YouTube will not push your video simply because you “worked hard” on it. It will only push it if viewers want to see it.
4
Think about how your own YouTube homepage works:

> You see dozens of videos competing for a click.
> YouTube is constantly asking: “Which one of these is most likely to keep you watching?”
> If your video has a lower satisfaction score than the competition, it disappears from the feed.

YouTube doesn't give any second chances.
5
So here's what you should do instead:
6
Step 1: Identify your direct competitors

These are the channels making videos that appear in search results or recommendations for your topics. Watch their best performing videos and ask yourself:

> How is the video structured to keep me hooked?
> Why does this title make me want to click the video?
> Why does this thumbnail instantly grabs my attention?
7
Step 2: Engineer your videos to beat theirs on key metrics

1. Your title and thumbnail must win the click more often than theirs

2. Your pacing, editing, and storytelling must keep viewers hooked longer

3. Viewers must feel like your video delivered more value than they expected
8
Step 3: Understand that small improvements compound

If your metrics are even 1% higher than the competition, YouTube notices.

Over time, those tiny wins stack until the algorithm starts favoring you over your competitors. Don't negate momentum.
9
TL;DR: YouTube is not a charity. It’s not here to give every creator equal exposure. It’s here to serve viewers the best option available at that moment. If you want that to be your video, you have to prove you’re the best.
