🧵 Here's one of the best ways to grow on YouTube.. Divert your...

Though that's possible, the meta most of the time ends up being "create better videos"
But that broad term of creating better videos is not going to help anyone out, so I'll share one of the more effective ways to grow, which is to divert your approach from your competitors.
Let's answer them one by one. Starting with:
In simpler terms, it means to do the opposite of what your competitors are doing.
It doesn't have to be in every terms of everything (I wouldn't recommend that)
But choose a different approach in more crucial aspects like the packaging (title & thumbnail) of your video.
The first step to diverting your approach is to identify the approach.
If you've been in your niche for a long time, then you should have a general idea of what the 'meta' is in your niche.
But even then, I suggest you follow these steps:
Step 1: Go on incognito web
Step 2: Identify the aspect you want to change (packaging, editing, content structure, etc)
Step 3: Search topics & creators in your niche
Step 4: Continue consciously doom scrolling through all the videos to look for what you want to change in your content
But refrain from breaking the pattern for the sake of it. You might get results, but you'll learn nothing and that won't last in the long run.
So once the pattern is identified, analyze:
1. Why are people using it?
2. Why do viewers click on it?
3. What would happen if I don't use this approach?
4. Is it worth breaking the pattern at my stage? (always yes if you're a small creator)
I'll be taking the finance niche example which I talked about earlier, of "10k/month" being a common topic for most finance channels
You can start by coming up with extreme opposites of the number, which could be the following:
1. $1/month
2. $10M/month
Or opposite in terms of how the number is represented. In this case, $10k/month is a rounded-up number, so try exact figures in your title:
> $10,863.85/month
These 3 ideas break the pattern of the common $10k/month in the finance niche.
I won't waste your time much with this, because it's very hard to identify which idea would work best as there's no data to back up any of your claims (because you're not going to be following the norm with this method)
So the next approach is to think for yourself or get opinions from other experts.
Or just test all different approaches and see which one sticks 🤷♂️
Because the competition of YouTube is very fierce. Doing the same as everyone else is going to put you in the same boat as everyone else.
This will limit your growth, and you most probably will not reach the top of YouTube as you'll be stuck in the noise.
If viewers are getting recommended basically the same stuff, and then your video comes along which breaks all the norms of the niche, wouldn't they want to click and watch?
Of course they would.
And doing this for a prolonged period of time will set you apart from your competitors.
In business terms, you'll have a USP which will help you achieve better results.
The whole of fitness niche was highly-edited and 'fake' videos of muscle-heads going head to head against each other to conclude who's stronger.
Until a guy came along who made 100% raw videos
Of course he'll grow faster than those who follow the norm.
