VITAMIN C:

⇨ Anti-cancer
⇨ Lowers stress
⇨ Renews skin
⇨ Improves sex life
⇨ Enhances energy & motivation
⇨ Crushes anxiety
⇨ Reduces sickness

& more.

Let's talk about the benefits of it, how to get enough and supplementation.

When Vitamin C stopped cancer.

Patients with terminal cancer given ~10 g vitamin C per day had drastically improved survival compared with controls.

Vitamin C is one of our principle antioxidants, which often becomes depleted in cancer.

Vitamin C megadosing completely prevents wrinkles.

~500-3,000 mg daily (human equivalent) made aged skin identical to youth.

Vitamin C is required to make collagen, &:

• Recovers cell proliferation
• Improves skin barrier function

for anti-aging the skin.

Vitamin C drastically lowers cortisol.

1,000 mg / day dropped the stress hormone by over 35% after 2 months.

Vitamin C is released by the adrenal glands and becomes depleted during stress,

but adding it back dampens this response.

In fact, vitamin C can even reduce anxiety.

Here, 500 mg per day reduced it by 25%.

Vitamin C actually has incredible protective effects on the brain, and can even act as a calming neurotransmitter.

Vitamin C megadoses rapidly reverse fatigue.

10 grams of C (IV) improves feelings of physical and mental fatigue by 20% within hours.

The antioxidant system is tied to our ability to generate energy.

A powerful antioxidant like vitamin C can thus make us feel more alert.

Vitamin C also improves motivation.

It increases the expression of the enzymes that make dopamine in the brain.

It is also required in the recycling of cofactors that help synthesize it.

This allows vitamin C to increase our output of dopamine.

Vitamin C deficiency actually shrinks the brain.

10-15% loss in brain volume with even with what most would consider to be normal amounts of vitamin C in the diet.

Adding extra vitamin C preserves the brain.

Vitamin C strikingly improves sex life.

C is needed for the formation of oxytocin, commonly known as the love hormone.

People when given 3g per day actually had sex with their partners nearly 4X as often.

Vitamin C even improves autism.

8g of vitamin C improved global symptoms, by:

‣ Ameliorating oxidative stress
‣ Aiding in neurotransmitter metabolism

Vitamin C is one of many nutrients that is often low in this condition.

Vitamin C is also highly protective against the common cold.

A few hundred mg of vitamin C reduces cold severity and duration substantially.

Immune cells require vitamin C to produce oxidants - which shred up bacteria and viruses.

C also helps mature our immune cells.

High dose vitamin C strikingly effective for allergies.

∙ 90% of patients receiving IV vitamin C improved symptoms
∙ On average symptoms improved by 80%

Vitamin C has key antioxidant roles which prevent histamine release from mast cells - which drives allergic reactions.

An estimated 42.9% of Americans do not get the RDA (90 mg) of vitamin C.

I would aim for even more than that, given how much stress, inflammation and oxidative stress the modern world throws at us.

A serum vitamin C test is available, which is a good metric.
14
Vitamin C is most abundant in fruits / vegetables.

However, when cooked, it diminishes.

Thus, raw fruits and juices are easily the best ways to get it.

Supplementing vitamin C:

Most vitamin C supplements are garbage, since they are produced from a highly inflammatory fungus.

I highly suggest if you do, you get it from a whole food source.

I normally use acerola cherry powder from purebulk. No additives, no contaminants.

It is pretty safe to mess around with. I think 500 mg as a starting dose is reasonable, up to several grams.

The main risks at the higher doses are:

1. Diarrhea or loose bowels (resolves itself quickly)
2. Increased iron absorption (can be toxic at high levels)

If you have those things in check, you're good to go.

Vitamin C is great, but it alone will not make you healthy.
