Advanced Prospect Research How to guarantee your writing resonates...

How to guarantee your writing resonates with your target market.
// THREAD //
You want them to think it's written just for them.
You want it to connect with them, to resonate with them.
So here's a simple and powerful method you can use to do that...
The more accurate, the better.
Then you plot out a demographic timeline for them.
That is, what was going on in their country and the world throughout their lives.
You want to start from when they were 5 and...
5-15
15-25
25-35
And so on.
Note the years each block covers.
Then write out what was happening at that time.
What would your prospect have seen and experienced?
For example...
From 5-15, the scars of WW2 were still visible. Times were hard.
He experienced the end of rationing.
He played in the bomb shelters.
Kids were left alone to run free.
From 15-25, the sixties changed the mood of the nation...
England won the World Cup.
The US put a man on the moon.
That was just a quick example, I'd go into more depth for a real prospect and cover their entire life.
But I'm sure you can see it's rich vein of research.
And you can use...
To a metaphor...
To making it the subject of an email...
To anything else you can think of.
You prospects will feel as though you're writing specifically to them as you're referring to what they lived through.
- Create a timeline from when your prospects were born.
- Split it into ten year blocks starting from when they were five.
- Find out what happened in their country and the world in those times.
- Use your findings in your copy to help it resonate.
