A great book for absolute beginners. Dan does a fine job of walking you through the fundamental nuts and bolts of writing copy.
The perfect follow-up to Dan's book. Joe introduces you to more advanced concepts.
If you could only choose one book for learning copy, this would be the one. Victor makes sure you understand the essential principles behind copy that converts.
I like this as it hammers home the basics over and over again: focus on the prospect and what’s in it for them.
All of John's books are worth your time and this is the best of them. Though make sure you get the 4th edition, as the 5th edition was updated by someone else and isn't as good.
Not a step-by-step guide, so not great for a complete beginner. But it's packed with technique after technique to make your copy better.
I've seen this get dismissed out of hand because of its age. And to be fair the examples are out-dated, but the principles it teaches are timeless.
This is a big-picture look at the elements your copy needs in order to convert. You’re not getting step-by-step info but it’s a good look at the principles and will make sure you don’t lose sight of the goals of good copy.
If you don't want to be a copywriter, but you need to be able to write good enough copy, this is a great guide. It walks you through a sales page template that will work perfectly for you.
Lewis has a different style to most as he tends to point out what not to do as opposed to what to do. If you can get past that there’s plenty of gold in here, including 100 ways to open a sales letter.
Not for beginners, this is graduate level copywriting training. Lewis goes in depth on making sure you choose the exact right word for any given situation.
Another one not for beginners. Widely regarded as the classic copywriting book, it's loaded with ideas to take your copy, and your understanding of copy, to the next level.
Masterson and Forde take the concept of awareness from Breakthrough Advertising and expand it into a standalone book. Even if you’re happy you understand that from Schwartz’s book, this lets you see how it applies to modern copy.
This is exactly what it claims. Yes, the sales letters are old, but if you can't learn anything from them, you're in the wrong profession. A must have.
As is this.
