Team Spotlight: Staraptor Sand!

Yes you heard that right! This team created by @lovejapanfrombr is one of the coolest teams out there and seems uniquely poised to take on a meta full of Sun, Rain, and even both at once!

Let’s talk about what makes this unique team work! (1/1?)

First off I want to say that @lovejapanfrombr did a team report so if you haven’t read that and given them a follow go do that first!
note.com/yoshimap/n/n41…

What makes this team cool is the core of 3 really strong Pokemon (Staraptor, Ttar, Ghold) that have underperformed (2/1?)

Each Mon has some unique strengths — paired with some common weaknesses. But these mons patch eachother’s weaknesses uniquely well!

Let’s start with Gholdengo. It DESTROYS Faries but hates Incin, Zard, Garchomp, Gambit, even Basc — you know the most common guys (3/1?)

And Staraptor gets DESTROYED by fairies — but with Intim + Contrary and Stab CC it’s actually good into Gambit, Garchomp, Incin, and even helps into Basc

Gholdengo covers the Faries and Ghost types for you the synergy is near perfect - except Zard Y is still scary (4/1?)

And that’s where the 3rd piece of the Puzzle Ttar comes in

Nothing ruins Zard-Y’s day quite like Ttar between the ability to reset the weather on both switching AND Mega Evolution. And of course Rock Slide destroys him

But Ttar hates intimidate, Garchomp, Gambit etc (5/1?)

And Staraptor covers this really well!

The other thing about this team is that the support pieces also synergize and cover the weakness of the team super well

Milotic wrecks Incin & Garchomp and provides speed control with icy wind

Sinistcha is healing and redirection (6/1?)

And Excadrill provides a fast offensive option that is good into both Zard Y AND faries.

By doubling up on roles offensively and defensively you have a lot more flexibility and security in the matchups

Gholdengo doesn’t like Incin? You’ve got Raptor + Milo + Ttar (7/1?)

The other thing about this team that is really clever is how you can bring both Megas and use them flexibly

Normally Staraptor is a Mega hog, but on this team it functions great as a Ghost & Ground immune, Intimidate+Tailwind Mon with CC

Ttar doesn’t have to Mega either(8/1?)

The team also has lots of clever techs like Shadow Ball on Sinistcha for the mirror, Icy wind on Milo for speed control and haze for resetting opposing set up

And I’ve seen people iterate on this core on ladder too! I’ve seen Houndstone and Rotom Wash on similar 6 (9/1?)
10
In conclusion, Tyranitar, Gholdengo, and Staraptor are all really strong monsters with unique weaknesses to cover — but they combine together to form a potent and synergistic team! Thanks @lovejapanfrombr for sharing the team!
