Statistics on the biographies of 75 of Russia's leading aviation specialists who worked with Igor Sikorsky after 1914:
* 1 died in WW1 combat
* 25 died between 1917-1924
* 32 emigrated
* 8 subsequently repressed under Stalin
Only 9/75 had a minimally "normal" life.

This level of human capital attrition appears to have been typical of in what would have qualified as Russia's "hi-tech" industries after 1917. Around 70-90% of high-ranking technical cadres emigrated or were killed or imprisoned in the ensuing 30 years.
