Brief comment on @TheOmniLiberal right-wing cancelation drama: I am...

I am not a fan of his Tweeting, and know nothing of his live streaming (between the two, I'd rather play video games than look at other men playing them).
However:
(1) His obnoxious comments about the killed pro-Trumpist are obviously not grounds for demonetization (let alone suspension as some MAGAts are calling for), especially in light of him having earlier posted far viler and dehumanizing things about Palestinians which however carried the sanction of American right-wing elites (including Musk for that matter). This is especially so because attending the political rallies of a Far Right populist is a choice, whereas most Palestinians trapped in Gaza between Hamas and the IDF have no say about their situation.
(2) It is especially amusing that this was initiated by @dom_lucre who was suspended for posting child exploitation images and then personally reinstated by Musk. In fairness, as I understand that was about drawing attention to said abuse that broke site TOS as opposed to something more sinister (otherwise it would presumably have been a criminal matter), but still, this is one of the last people who should presume to police speech on X.
(3) As has long been clear, Musk support for freedom of speech is tactical and situational, not absolute and principled. In all fairness, it's still far better than under the old management. But it's not a stable and rigorous long-term solution, since it's very much personalistic, and Musk's radicalization will sooner deepen than reverse.
The only rigorous long-term solution is a decentralized Web3 social media protocol, supported by a credibly private Proof of Humanity system (at least one such exists at an advantage stage of development: Worldcoin), users cryptographically own their own handle, have algorithmic control over what gets into their feed, and sovereignty over their own data.
I think this site is on its way to Gabization. 🤷♀️
