🇩🇪This pamphlet's Widukind narrative is ideological fiction and selective history, and is essentially lying to it's own men. It totally ignores the fact that Widukind himself converted and submitted to Christianization willingly.

Another thing that Volkisch Sperg doesn't mention is that this booklet was ultimately glorifying a Christian King, Heinrich I Der Vogler, or Henry the Fowler. Himmler believed he was a re-incarnation of Henry the Fowler, which is peak hypocrisy because on one hand he allows criticism of Christianity as being "non-German" in this pamphlet (which is nonsense) and then pushes a foreign Indian concept from the Bhagavad Gita that he is re-incarnated as a Christian King???

It makes no sense.

By the time the Fowler had become King, Saxony had been fully Christian for over a century. Heinrich I only exists because Charlemagne subjected Windukind. But as I've stated before Himmler sucked at history.

This is a prime example of why a lot of the decentralized SS material isn't really worth covering in depth in regard to Nazi ideological History because it's, I'm sorry to say, poorly constructed slop that makes the Third Reich look silly.

It's really only valuable to revisionists and copelords who cherry pick information to create a narrative that doesn't exist.

"He was the first among equals, and he was shown greater and truer human reverence than later emperors, kings, and princes who demanded foreign Byzantine ceremonial pomp and were judged accordingly. He remained duke and king and was a leader a thousand years ago."

3rd ᛋᛋ Panzer Division 'Totenkopf' ideological training manual for recruits:

‼️Jewish-Christianity put the German soul in CHAINS‼️
________________________________

"In the southwest of the Lüneburg Heath, right on the Aller shortly before its confluence with the Weser, lies the small town of Verden. Here, once, 4,500 Saxons who had fought under Widukind for tribal honor and the freedom of belief in the gods born from their own blood—the Germanic ones—were "executed" by the Frankish executioner's sword.

"Red flowed the Aller with Saxon blood..." so the lament still resounds today, lest the atrocity be forgotten, HOW FROM WIDUKIND UNTIL THE PRESENT THE JEWISH-CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE HAS BOUND THE GERMAN SOUL IN CHAINS (!!)."

✝️looking at Himmler's historical fiction here, There is no contemporary evidence whatsoever that Heinrich received "greater and truer human reverence" than later medieval rulers. Reverence for kings depended on military success, protection of the realm, and political alliances, not on some special Germanic authenticity that set him apart from his successors.

The claim that later emperors, kings, and princes "demanded foreign Byzantine ceremonial pomp" and were judged accordingly is anachronistic and baseless: significant Byzantine ceremonial influence on Western coronations and court ritual only became prominent well after Heinrich's death (especially under the later Ottonians and Salians), and no medieval source contrasts Heinrich favorably against "Byzantine" decadence.

Henry the Fowler was a pragmatic, Christian Saxon duke turned king who refused anointing in 919 for political reasons to limit church overreach and emphasize elective and acclamatory legitimacy, not because he rejected ceremonial "pomp" in some proto-völkisch sense. All the Kings after him accepted Anointing willingly.

Himmler doesn't even tell the truth about the man he claims to be reincarnated as, which is sad and Hilarious. You could maybe say he was somewhat Anti-Clerical but in no way was he Anti-Christian.

✍️This booklet itself was published internally by the command staff (Divisionsstab) of SS-Totenkopf, probably overseen by Theodor Eicke. This was not a central SS publication like Das Schwarze Korps, but unit specific for internal use in small runs for distribution to officers.

It also wasn't distributed beyond the Division, which was only about 15,000-20,000 men, and surviving copies are rare.

Estimates are that maybe only a few thousand men would have actually read this pamphlet, as Ideological reading was very low priority while fighting a massive world war across the hundreds of miles of the Eastern front.

SS-Totenkopf was busy staying alive and fighting the Soviet Union, not reading Himmler's ahistorical fan fiction that glorified his non-Germanic reincarnation narratives.

This fanzine in no way represents the feelings of Hitler or the German Government at the time, as they had just cracked down on Paganism and the Occult for years. We know specifically that Hitler approved of Charlemagne's conquest and Christianization of Germany across multiple sources. AH probably would have thrown this garbage the trash if he would have taken the time to read it.

But the Cope continues.

Also interesting to note that this pamphlet was based off of ideas from Wilhelm Teudt, who helped popularized the "Windukind" grievance, along with a few others.

His 1929 work Germanische Heiligtümer was rejected by Academics and historians at the time of publication.

Just like with Karl Maria Wiligut (One of the designers of the black Sun), Himmler plucked an actual pseudo-intellectual out of thin air, and promoted him - only to distance himself later, which was a theme that ran all through his career with these nut jobs.

Teudt was forced to leave the Ahnenerbe in 1938 after a fallout with Himmler, who described Teudt as "unobjective and pathologically quarrelsome"

He's very characteristic of the hair-brained pseuds that made up most of the volkish "thinkers". Older failed academics who just repackaged enlightenment myths by Voltaire with a "germanized" sheen.

Thanks @BMaruno12 for bringing that to my attention. I'd researched him a bit in the past and forgotten!

Himmler and Rosenberg didn't even invent the Anti-Charlemagne "Windukind whining" either. A lot of it came from Hermann Lons. Lons was a semi-successful writer who had problems with Alcohol abuse and lost several publishing jobs because he was a drunk.

His most successful book was a Werewolf novel depicting the bloody revenge of Saxony peasants on soldiers in the 30 year war. Basically escapist fantasy or proto-Science Fiction that happens in a real world setting.

After a string of bad marriages, alcohol addiction, and contemplating suicide, Lons died in the first world war. The army refused him at first due to poor health and age but an officer friend got him in as a rifleman.

Rosenberg dug all this crap up in his book and it sparked debates at parties which led him to being trashed by Karl Hampe, who claimed it was Rosenberg who was imposing foreign ideas onto German culture by digging up Voltaire myths.

‘Today we certainly have less reason than ever’, Hampe concluded, ‘to follow this pioneer of the French Revolution’ – as Rosenberg had followed Voltaire – ‘in disrespecting the first emperor of Germanic descent and to adopt his grounds for so doing’.

Later in the volume, in an essay on Charlemagne’s character, Hampe emphasized Charlemagne’s pure Germanic blood, describing him as ‘untainted by Romanisation’.

Womp Womp.

Pretty much all of Nazi SS paganism was Himmler interjecting Enlightenment myths and hoaxes that Hitler didn't agree with.
