Everyone will remember him for the many contributions he made but I will remember him for his denial of the Bosnian Genocide…for when he called the concentration camps “refugee camps that people could come in and go from as they please”…camps that killed thousands of Bosniaks.
Hearing Noam Chomsky's health has deteriorated to the point it now prevents him from writing, commenting or participating in the public domain. As an educator he has been without equal. An intellectual giant in an age of confusion, misinformation & soundbites. Thank you, Noam. ❤️

He denied the Cambodian Genocide too and defended people who denied the genocide in Rwanda. To me, Chomsky is just an unprincipled leftist whose solidarity was only extended to those who’d suffer under the USA…but not anyone else. His comments on Ukraine were also bad.

I retain that his scholarship on Palestine-Israel as well as Manufacturing Consent and propaganda are excellent…and yet he was shortsighted as many on the left are. If we only support those who suffer under the US imperialism & not others, how can we be leftists?

The “America is evil, therefore any enemy of America must be good” is a horrible stance to have. It disregards the complexity of geo-politics, the complexity of imperialism and the fight amongst others to be the ultimate imperialist. I think this has done insurmountable damage.

Anyway, I’ve read a lot of Chomsky’s work…for a period of time, he was someone I looked up to greatly, especially when I first got involved in activism. It was heartbreaking to find out his stance on the Bosnian Genocide. Never have heroes, they always disappoint you.

While Chomsky was proven wrong on the Bosnian Genocide and the image he claimed was “faked” of Fikret Abdic and the starving & tortured Bosniaks behind a barded wire, forced into a concentration camp. He never admitted it. I emailed him many times, he never apologised.

Apologies here, it is Fikret Alic* not Abdic. I got my Fikret’s mixed up and used the wrong name. Fikret is a phenomenal man & the photo of him in the Trnopolje concentration camp shocked many. Meanwhile leftists claimed it was a faked image. It was proven in court it was not.
