One aspect of genocide denialism is using the word to describe situations where it’s not applicable. You’re watering down the meaning of the word so it’s resonance no longer has meaning in true applications. You’re engaging in genocide denialism in this post.
What is happening to Palestinians currently is not genocide. It does not fit the definition. The government of Gaza started a war against Israel. Israel was forced to defend itself. There has been collateral damage of civilians in the war. There has been no intent to kill civilians. The IDF has implemented a number of measures to aid cilivians from getting harmed. Yet their own government keeps trying to put them in harms way.
Do not say genocide denialism is a bad thing and then engage in it in the same post.

You don’t know better than genocide scholars, experts, educators. You just don’t. You’re not instantly an expert on genocide because you’re descended from someone who survived it…sorry but enough is enough. Genocide scholarship is a real academic subject. You don’t know better.

The Israeli government, its leaders and its fucking President & Prime Minister have publicly stated that they are indiscriminately targeting Palestinians, that they want to ethnically cleanse Gaza, that they are doing everything to ensure the destruction of the Palestinians.

Genocide is the specific intent to destroy in whole or in part a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. Intent is the most difficult thing to prove in the Intl Courts and yet for the past 3 months Israel has consistently shouted publicly its intent to destroy Gaza.

The fact that over 20,000 people have been killed in less than 2 months is a significant horror but even if only 5,000 were killed…it would still be genocide because the intent was still to destroy the Palestinians and destroy Gaza.

It is genocide. It meets every definition of genocide. It meets the UN and the ICC definition of genocide. What is happening in Palestine is genocide. Denying that makes you a vile & horrible person. The only “watering down” here is the watering down of Israel’s crimes.
