Twitter Threads and the Art of Persuasion How to instantly become...

How to instantly become more persuasive.
// THREAD //
If so you've probably noticed they often say something like:
"Retweet this thread because I spent 2 hours writing it."
But...
Who cares?
The reader's only interested in what's in it for them.
Not how long was spent on the writing.
Now maybe...
And you're thinking:
"You only need to give a reason for someone to do something...
It doesn't need to be a good reason."
And you're right.
To a degree...
But the better the reason, the better the results.
So whenever you want someone to do something...
Don't just give them a reason.
Give them a good reason.
And a good reason is one that appeals to their self interest.
For example:
Is all about you, not them.
Whereas:
"We should go to this restaurant because they serve those sliders you love."
Is about what they want.
And to make it even more powerful...
"We should go to this restaurant because they serve those sliders you love, they're the best I've ever tasted, and it's 20% off all food tonight."
So to sum up...
- Give them a reason why they should do what you want.
- Make sure the reason appeals to their self-interest.
- And if possible give multiple reasons.
And you'll become a far more effective persuader.
