Overlooked Copywriting Research Two simple but underused questions...

Two simple but underused questions that can strengthen every aspect of your marketing.
// THREAD //
1) Research your market.
2) Research your product.
3) Research your prospect.
And they're vital for effective copy, but there's another R...
An R even easier to research...
An R that can help guarantee you don't mess up...
And that R is...
Meaning you want to know what the business has already tried in their marketing.
And what's worked for them and what hasn't worked.
You want to know...
- Headlines
- Promotions
- Subject lines
And any other relevant aspect of their marketing over the past twelve months or so.
Then look for patterns...
And what they don't respond to.
You can then use this to guide your own efforts.
For example...
And every failure has focused on the problem...
Then you know to stick with big promises.
So whether you're working for yourself or a client...
- What has worked before?
- And what hasn't worked before?
And I tend to limit it to the last year, as much beyond that markets can have changed to the point the data's no longer relevant.
