15 Conversion Boosters

Want to improve your sales page conversions?

Here are 15 of my best techniques for doing just that.

// THREAD //
2
Before we start...

Any of these techniques used correctly can easily give a 20% conversion boost.

I've used them in niches from make money to finance to martial arts.

But don't try to do too much at once or the copy can end up losing focus (and sales).

Now let's dive in...
3
1) Polish The First Line

A simple one to start with.

First lines are often too long and focused on the business.

A good first line wants to be:

- Short.
- Focused on the prospect.
- And/or curiosity driven.
4
2) Dig Up The Lead

Sometimes the best idea in a sales page is hidden way down in the body copy.

(Known as burying the lead.)

So:

- Go through the copy
- If you spot a powerful idea
- Work it into the headline and/or lead
5
3) Strengthen The Hook

An easy way to improve a hook is to add a human interest angle to it.

For example, from:

"Make 6 Figures With Public Speaking"

To:

"How a Shy Librarian Makes 6 Figures With Public Speaking"

Also, note the contrast between "shy" and "public speaking".
6
4) Add Proof

Add as many proof and credibility elements as you can find.

It's difficult to add too many.

You can use:

- Testimonials
- Case studies
- Reviews
- Demonstrations
- Scientific studies
- Quotes from authority figures

And anything else that backs up your claims.
7
5) Testimonials As Mirrors

Use testimonials from people who resonate with your target audience.

For example:

For a joint mobility supplement for the elderly...

Don't use testimonials from younger people.

You want other old people letting them know how it's eased their pain.
8
6) Get Specific

A lot of copy is too broad.

You can easily improve it by more specifically targeting its intended audience:

- Call them out
- Use their language
- Use cultural references they'll understand

Consider writing different sales pages for different market segments.
9
7) Use The Dark Side

Who or what do the prospects hate or fear the most?

Work it into the copy.

Examples:

"The Government is Stealing Your Money"

"Big Pharma Covered This Up For Decades"

"What Banks Don't Want You To Know"
10
8) Strengthen the Guarantee

The stronger your guarantee, the more you'll sell.

One way to strengthen it without changing its terms:

Have it come from a specific person, not the business as a whole.

So it's no longer a generic guarantee, but a personal promise.
11
9) USP

If the offer has a weak USP or no USP...

Start researching into ways the offer's unique.

For example, does it:

Target a specific niche?
Solve a specific problem?
Solve the problem faster?
Simplify getting a result?
Get longer-lasting results?
12
10) Add Urgency

Even if prospects decide to buy...

There's a big difference between them deciding and actually buying.

So always add urgency to your copy.

Tell them why they need to buy right now.

Tell them what they risk missing out on if they don't buy right now.
13
11) Flip the Offer

If the offer has some good bonuses...

Consider making one of them the main product, and making the main product a free bonus.

By giving away the main product for "free", prospects can think they're getting a better deal than the other way round.
14
12) Price Drop

Engineer a big price drop.

For example, if you sell $1,000 coaching...

Let your prospects know early on in your copy similar coaching can easily cost $5,000 or $10,000.

Then when you reveal your price, it will come as a real bargain.
15
13) Emphasise Payments

For higher-ticket offers, use a payment plan whenever possible.

And in your copy, focus on the price of the individual payments, not the total price.

So if you're selling a $2,000 course, with $200 payments...

Focus on the $200 not $2,000.
16
14) Supply and Demand

Don't give away anything that's unlimited because it has no value.

Instead limit it to increase it's value.

For example, a coach offering unlimited phone support...

Could make it more valuable by cutting it down to one twenty minute call a week.
17
15) Look at the Bigger Picture

Don't get too focused on the copy.

You can often take a step back and spot other profit-boosting opportunities.

For example:

- Welcome emails
- A bump offer (or two)
- Upsells
- Downsells
- Follow-up emails

So examine the complete funnel.
18
To sum up:

- Polish the first line
- Dig up the lead
- Strengthen the hook
- Add proof
- Mirror testimonials
- Get specific
- Use the dark side
- Improve the guarantee
- Improve the USP

Continued...
19
- Add Urgency
- Flip the offer
- Drop the price
- Focus on payments
- Limit the unlimited
- Check the whole funnel

And those are 15 proven conversion-boosters for you.
