Four Fatal Habits Guaranteed to Fail 🧵 Are you guilty of any of...

💣Moving (widening) your stop-loss
Cut your losses exactly as planned, exactly as your rules specify.
The moment you let your emotions or opinions take priority, you deviate from the plan and the rules, and you lose consistency.
Once consistency is lost, you stop collecting trade samples under identical conditions, probability stops working, and your system's edge cannot emerge.
The immediate win or loss is not important.
💣Doubling your lot size to win back losses
Do not inflate your position size to recoup losses.
Each individual trade outcome is random, and randomness produces losing streaks as well.
An enlarged position is a bomb that can blow up your account.
There is no guarantee you will make it back on the next trade, and during a losing streak each stop-loss inflicts greater damage on your account.
If you trade with probabilistic thinking, each individual trade is nothing more than a single trade sample.
But once you enlarge the position size, it ceases to be just one trade sample and becomes a "special one-off" that can inflict catastrophic damage on your account.
Never create a "special one-off" or an "exceptional one-off" in trading.
💣Winning by breaking the rules
Winning is not all that matters.
When you break the rules and still win, it becomes a false success experience and feeds the belief that "putting your current feelings first" and "the win or loss right now is what matters" are more important than consistency or the rules.
You will break the rules again next time.
That road ends in bankruptcy.
💣Impulse trading without a plan or rules
At this point it is no longer trading but gambling.
Short-term results are ruled by randomness.
Therefore a trader must act consistently and utilize probability through a large sample size.
Impulsive trading without rules is a waste of time and money.
It will never bring success.
Solid preparation is crucial in trading.
The credibility of your system's edge must rest on a large sample size.
I have introduced several examples, but they are all "inconsistent behaviors".
In trading, edge and consistency are extremely important, and profit is born from these two.
Your trading journey is also a journey to gain consistency.
Traders who are engaging in the behaviors introduced here should stop them.
