A cheat sheet for the common answers to those Boomer platitudes listed in the OP.

1. All politics is identity politics, especially in democracy. The organized and loyal team wins, the singleton loses. Boomers understand this with professional sports, which is also identity politics.

2. No one assimilates anymore. I am not sure they ever did, but it is impossible in current year because you can’t assimilate into a divided culture, and if you did you would assimilate to the ideology of higher education, which is decidedly not conservative. Still, for the most part immigrants don’t assimilate, they deracinate.

3. It’s fine if you want to side with Israel as a Christian. But while you are doing this, major ethnic cleansings of Christians are going on world wide, and most Christian nations are set to lose their ethnic/religious identity in the next 10 years. When you go on about how we need to “save the Jewish state”, and you don’t even care about the Christian state that you live in, you look like the Millennial cuck talking about his “wife’s boyfriend”.

4. If you educate an entire generation of young people to be radical, they will radicalize the mainstream, the mainstream won’t magically de-radicalize them. That’s not how generational politics work.

5. Modern women perceive IRL attempts at courtship to be creepy harassment in 99% of cases. Worse yet, since #metoo , they react against these attempts as if they were a kind of “pre-rape” with shame and institutional penalization. To succeed men need confidence, male camaraderie, and sexual realism that they aren’t learning from IRL school. That’s why they look for advice online.

6. While it’s true online isn’t real life, when it comes to politics, it is just faster then real life. You know that latest outrage you saw in your HR department or on Fox News? If you are wondering why we aren’t howling in rage like you are, it’s because we all saw this thing coming months, if not years, before you did. And when we brought it up earlier you told us to “just log off!” because the thing in question wasn’t real.

7. (Implicit) Many of the things that Boomers label “common sense” notions weren’t common in any part of humanity before 1945. That means it’s not actual common, it’s post-war progressive propaganda that you swallowed.

To take an example, “racism” (supposedly the greatest evil) has no antecedent before 1900. It is a late progressive Christian term that was weaponized by Communists in 1950s to tar middle American conservatives like yourself.

That’s why everyone laughs at you when you claim “leftists are the real racists!”. You might as well be saying “Nazis were the real Jews!”

At any rate I hope this helps. I know you might be able to argue these points, but considering the mass of evidence and history that supports them, the counter arguments never win in the long term.

That’s why no one believes these Boomer platitudes anymore.

Adjust accordingly.

We need a "boomer intervention" especially for those older folks who call themselves "conservative'. Are there any Boomers in my audience willing to talk?
Ok, good, so listen up.
There is a problem here, guys. Every day I see you posting ridiculous opinions that almost no young person, not even the right-wing ones, believes. And those young guys aren't getting on your side over time.
What takes are those?
1. "We really have to get rid of identity politics and return to old-fashioned individualism!"
2. "I am all in favor of legal mass migration, as long as they assimilate!"
3. "We need more unquestioning support for Israel!"
4. "Those radical college students are sure crazy, I can't wait till they get scared straight by the REAL WORLD"
5. "Young men would do better with women if they just got off their heckin' phones and asked them out on dates politely!"
6. "Online isn't real life. If people just logged off we'd all get back to common sense!"
Finally, I could add any casual attitude you have about "common sense morals" that was not common before 1960.
These takes are WELL past their expiration date and will imminently be tossed in the trash bin of history within one generation. Why is that?
Because they all have super easy responses and refutations that immediately crumble their motivating logic, and are only sustained when insulated from more fundamental questions that have been removed from our mainstream since the middle of the century.
This doesn't mean that you have to change your fundamental values, far from it. But you have to avoid these cliches and dead ends if you want to be part of a meaningful conversation about the future, because most young people (the serious ones at least), have seen through this, and no one is going back to the way things used to be.
