He's also a HARDCORE reader.
Here are 21 reading tips from @jockowillink:
1) Reading is the ultimate way to sharpen the sword.
2) If you’re not reading, you’re falling behind.
3) When I read, I’m looking for something that’s gonna help me improve, help me get better, and I know that if I don’t read, then I’m not gonna get better.
4) Being literate makes you powerful. Throughout recent history, if we're trying to oppress someone, what we don't want them to be able to do is read or write or articulate themselves.
5) Readers are leaders...The successful leaders and the successful leaders in business, they read.
6) When you read a lot it makes you a better writer and it makes you a better speaker.
7) Be a reader, be a leader. Read, lead, and win.
8) There are certain books that you read that just change your life.
9) You have to be humble enough to read, you have to be hungry. But you also have to be disciplined.
10) You have to have the discipline to read, to learn, to grow. To constantly challenge your mind.
11) Write down the important stuff you learn, and refer back to your notes. It's a sign of respect to the person who spent the time writing the book.
12) Highlighting isn't about marking up a book, it's about making the book yours.
13) Look for books that will stretch your mind. Reading the same genre or author over and over can be comforting, but it won't help you grow.
14) Read books outside your field. You'll be amazed at how much you can learn from seemingly unrelated subjects.
15) The more you learn, the more you realize you don’t know.
16) Put yourself into the situation in the book so you can learn from other people's experiences and you don't have to go through it yourself.
16) I read at the speed that I talk, just about, which sucks because it takes me a long time to read stuff. But that means that when I'm reading it, it's like someone's telling me a story or it's like I'm telling someone a story, so it's more engaging for me in my brain.
17) Fools say that they learn from experience. I prefer to profit from others' experiences. So what does that mean? That means read.
18) When you're looking at Instagram or you're watching this Netflix show or you're sitting around talking to your friends, during all those times I'm just reading a book.
19) Sometimes one book gets boring, but I know I gotta read. So, I have two books, three books all sitting there, and I'm reading them all at the same time. And that makes them a little bit more interesting.
20) When I read the book the first time, I'm reading the entire thing, and anything that's cool, good, impactful, meaningful lesson I highlight.
21) One of the most important things you can do is pick up a book and start reading.
