#jinminkookau where they're a coven/pack. Despite vampires and...

Despite vampires and werewolves being enemies, somehow two vampires and a werewolf find their way into each other's hearts.
This is their story.
The alphas chasing him bark aggressively, and the fear spikes the adrenaline and makes Jeongguk run faster.
He loses them when he gets to a mountain range. The alphas stopped abruptly and turned around,
It's almost sunset now, so he needs to find a safe place to sleep.
He runs further into the mountain range, staying on the bottom, surrounded by tall trees that make everything darker.
It's just weird.
He's never smelt it before.
Could whatever it is be the reason why the alphas
He curls up at the foot of a tree and ignores his stomach, putting his rail on top of his nose. He's hungry, but he can't do anything about it.
Not when it's so dark. Not when he's never hunted anything before.
The alphas should've continued chasing him until he either got away or they killed him, but they turned around when he neared the mountain range.
Well, whatever animal it is, he hopes it doesn't bother him.
Jeongguk wakes up with a start, looking around frantically to find what could've snapped that branch. It's the middle of the night, so it must be some sort of nocturnal animal.
But the scent . . .
The weird scent is stronger.
Much stronger.
Jeongguk relaxes now and curls up again, but sleep doesn't come easily. The animal might come back.
The next morning, he goes further into the mountain range. Even though the animal went this way, deeper into the mountains,
He needs to get out of here soon. The trees block too much of the sun, and there's not likely to be any berries or trees he can live off of temporarily.
Luckily, he hasn't had another run-in with the animal, but the scent of it is still everywhere.
He can't manage to kill anything. The two times he spots a smaller animal nearby, they run away at the sight of him.
He doesn't know how to stay hidden.
But he's just too clumsy. He's always making some sort of noise to alert the animals.
He finds a blackberry bush though, so he shifts and eagerly eats until the sourness lingers in his mouth.
Why is it out in the daylight? He thought the animal was nocturnal.
It's almost evening so he'll probably wake up around sunrise, even dawn, but he just hopes the animal doesn't come close to him again.
He needs to get out of this mountain range.
The next day, he finds a dead rabbit. Untouched.
It's weird, because the weird smell is strong on the rabbit, but the rabbit /can't/ be the animal, the animal couldn't have killed this rabbit /for/ Jeongguk.
But why would it just leave food lying around?
Then he turns it around and notices the blood caked on the ground and fur, and looks closer at the cause. Two deep piercings on the shoulder.
Did the animal just drain the blood, then? What for?
Jeongguk's tempted to eat the rabbit, but there's no telling if the rabbit's poisoned or something by the animal.
He's starving and hopes to find something to eat come nightfall.
The animal is nearby again, but he doesn't know where. Its scent is surrounding him from everywhere, but particularly from from two different places, from in front of him and behind him, and its messing with him mind.
The animal is close by, but no matter where Jeongguk looks, he can't see it. His instincts are going haywire, telling him to bolt, and adrenaline is high.
How is it able to keep its scent so fresh in such a big area of land? It just doesn't make sense.
He needs to get out of here quick.
No matter how far Jeongguk travels, the animal's scent surrounds him. Sickeningly fresh.
No matter how far Jeongguk travels, he can't get out of the animal's land. It's much too massive, and he's too dehydrated to travel for long periods of time effectively anyway.
He squishes one in his hand and finds that the juice is a magenta, and spits whatever's in his mouth out onto the ground.
He's hungry, but he doesn't know these berries. He's never seen them before.
He's dehydrated and starving. No matter how many times he tries to wet his tongue, it feels like sandpaper, and there are no animals that he's been able to stumble across on.
Instead, it was all housekeeping and keeping himself tidy and well-behaved while his alpha and beta siblings were allowed to play as much as they wanted with nothing more than
Even now, in the wild, he's useless! If he were an alpha, he'd be fine—no, if he were an alpha, he wouldn't have left in the first place.
Alphas don't get forced to mate.
He's going to die and there'll be no one but the creepy animal as the witness. Pack Alpha would laugh cruelly and tell him he deserves it for refusing to mate,
The leaves aren't satisfying enough and he goes back to the twigs. Feeling the berries fall onto his legs every time the jerk of a branch breaking is accompanied with a snap is relaxing. The little thorns dig into
His thoughts drift back to the escape, to the chase. The alphas turned back immediately and fearfully. Did they know about the animal living in this territory? Do they know what it is? What it eats?
For omegas, after the age of fourteen, it was how to take a knot and be a good spouse, meanwhile for other subgenders it was building
They didn't even think of mating when all that was shoved in the omegas' faces was that they were at an eligible age now, that people were looking at them and that these years mattered the most
He hates children. They make him miserable. It's why he ran away from his arranged mating in the first place. If he's going to die, he'd rather it be on his own terms, even
His hands are bleeding and stained with the juice of the berries and his legs stained and covered with branches.
But he wasn't ready. He never will be for pups.
Jeongguk whips his head around and finds a man standing behind him, hand cocked on his hip, smirking. His features aren't defined under the night cover.
Jeongguk notices it now, the animal's cloying scent. It's coming from this man.
Oh no.
"Who do we have here, ruining our shrubbery?" Says a second voice to his right. This man is built thicker and has a high voice.
Oh no, no, no.
The last thing he feels is the scratching of the thicket against his backside.
Jeongguk wakes up someplace cold and dark. Pelts surround him, acting as blankets, and he wriggles, cozying up in them. It's still cold, but he can make do. It's not the first time the pack grounds are cold at night and it won't be the last— wait. He ran away from his pack.
"You're awake."
Jeongguk looks behind himself and finds both of the vampires watching him.
"He's trying to be modest," the one standing says. "How cute."
Jeongguk purses his lips.
"I was running away," he answers honestly. "I ran away from my pack. I didn't mean to come into your territory, but I couldn't go back. I was planning on
"Good to know," the one standing says. "However, you came into our territory anyway. /And/ you stayed for several days."
"I couldn't go back or around. I had to go through."
"Jeongguk."
"Why did you run away?"
"And you thought stumbling through a vampire's territory was a better option?" he raises his eyebrows.
Their eyebrows fly up and they glance at each other. "An omega?" the standing one says. "Running away from an arranged mating? What, was he abusive? Well, more abusive than the average joe?"
"Well that's not something you hear every day from an omega. You hate pups so much that you'd rather become a rogue? That is, if you even survive longer than a month."
"Yes."
Covenmate? Is that what vampires call their packmate? The covenmate, the one that's sitting, nods but doesn't say anything further.
"No," the one standing says. "Well, that /was/ the plan, but we also thought you were either an alpha or beta. An incompetent and weak one, but still an alpha or beta."
"Why to the west? Why not South?"
"The south and east are predominantly other vampire territories. The north and west are
"Oh. It's a clear-cut divide between vampires and werewolves?"
"Yeah. There was a settlement a while ago. Don't they teach you this in school or whatever educational institution wolves go to?"
"Then we'll take that as the second option. You're on /our/ territory."
"Okay. Do you want water? Or food?"
The one sitting chuckles and stands up. He yells “Bat!” and turns into one, then flies towards Jeongguk, who brings his hands up
“So,” says the standing vampire, “why go to the west when they’re known for being even more traditional than the Northern packs?”
“Oh, that makes sense now.”
“What’s your name?” Jeongguk asks, growing bold. “And your covenmate’s name?”
“I’m Seokjin. My covenmate is Jimin.”
“We wanted to observe you. We saw you when you entered our land, but we agreed to wait to see what you do.”
Because he’s naked, he feels exposed and vulnerable, but it’s not something he can change.
“What are you smiling about?” Seokjin asks distastefully.
Jeongguk nods and looks back down, starting to play with the pelt’s fur again. Of course Seokjin doesn’t care. What was he expecting, a ‘good job’ or ‘that’s amazing’?
When he’s full, he feels both proud of himself and disgusted. Even for an omega, he has a small appetite. What he’s eaten is almost twice as much as what he normally eats.
“Is the food not to your liking?”Jimin asks.
Jeongguk looks up and immediately shakes his head. “It’s great. Thank you for the food. I’m full though. Will you, um, ‘eat’ the rest of it?”
Jeongguk nods and drinks the rest of his water.
“Are you done?” Seokjin asks.
“Yes.”
Jeongguk’s eyebrows go up. “Now?”
“Is there a problem with that?”
“Well, it’s just— it’s nighttime.”
“I can’t see as well as an alpha can.”
“Right. Okay. We’ll go in the morning then. Go to sleep.”
He’s actually not that sleepy, but he lies down and pulls the pelts up anyway. It actually isn’t long before he starts to doze off.
