#jinkookau Again, On Purpose; Where after twenty years, they meet...

Where after twenty years, they meet again at a high school reunion.
He almost didn't believe his eyes at first, but the more he watches the man talk with Jihoon, there's less plausibility in denying it.
It's his Seokjin. The one that got away.
Yoongi removes his eyes from the food table and looks at where Jeongguk is staring at.
"Do I go up to him? What do I say?" He turns to look at Yoongi in the eyes, expecting the lack of reciprocation. "What do I do?"
Yoongi shrugs. "You want answers, don't you?" He looks at
He groans and lets his head fall onto Yoongi's shoulder. "No seriously, what do I do? It's been twenty years. Do I greet him? Do I act like nothing happened?"
"I see Hoseok at the food table. Weren't you three close at the time?"
Yoongi hums, putting a hand on his shoulder to move him aside. "Well, I'm gonna talk to Hoseok and see if he's already talked to Seokjin so he could introduce you guys again."
He looks at Seokjin one more time before starting a conversation with a girl that he thinks was in his band class.
Jeongguk walks faster to Yoongi's side, introducing himself to Namjoon and the person beside.
"Nice to see you again, Jeongguk. This is Taehyung, my husband."
He thinks he remembers Taehyung. He's either the person that accidentally got a fire going in cooking class and made the entire school stand outside in the middle of winter, or the person that started the food fight in senior year.
"Yup," Taehyung smiles. "Was hard as fuck when we did long distance because of University, but was so worth it." He giggles, putting his hand on Namjoon's shoulder. "We recently applied for adoption. We're waiting for the results."
"Have you met Seokjin? He's changed so much!" Namjoon comments.
Taehyung nods in agreement. "Back then he was two seconds away from murdering everyone, but now he's so easygoing!"
"Not yet," Yoongi says. "I overheard a bit of his conversation with Hoseok though, and yeah, he really has changed. He laughs so much too, but I also noticed he looks a bit sad."
"I mean, it's no wonder. His parents were shit. This town
Namjoon hums in agreement. "I'm surprised he even came. He didn't come to the other reunions, so I didn't expect him to come to this one either."
Taehyung hums. "Yeah, definitely. Everyone was trying to one-up the other. It was horrifying. We came to the ten- and fifteen-year reunions though and there weren't that many people—
"Huh," Jeongguk says.
"Isn't she the girl that claimed all of SHINee are her husbands?" Yoongi asks.
"Yeah," Namjoon says. "And at the ten year reunion we told her boyfriend about all about it," he laughs.
Taehyung and Namjoon laugh.
"Everyone has changed, Yoongi." Namjoon pushes his glasses up.
Yoongi sighs. "You know what I mean."
They all laugh as if it was a joke.
After a couple seconds they stop laughing.
"Oh, you're serious," Taehyung says.
Namjoon clears his throat. "Sorry."
Jeongguk gives Yoongi a pointed glare, but he either ignores it or doesn't notice.
"Oh, you two haven't talked already?" Namjoon asks.
"I'm /afraid/," Jeongguk interrupts.
Rejection and potential embarrassment has him reluctant to talk to Seokjin, yes, but it's more than just that.
Not that Seokjin was ever like that— no, he was actually the best lover he's had— but if Seokjin has changed then so might his treatment.
"Of what?" Namjoon asks. "You two were couple goals in high school, like no kidding, you guys were that couple. It was a shock to everyone when Seokjin broke up with you."
Jeongguk shrugs. "Yeah, it was to me too. He never explained why."
Taehyung nods. "Agreed."
"It happened twenty years ago! Literally!"
Taehyung rolls his eyes. "It doesn't matter how many years ago it was. Seokjin shows up to the reunion for the first time
"Won't it be weird?"
"Why would it be? You're exes, yeah, but for twenty years. It shouldn't be awkward. You're middle-aged adults, who have matured greatly since high school."
Yoongi laughs. "This is so you. Avoidance is so you."
Namjoon sighs. "How were you guys so popular as a couple when your communication was so terrible?"
Taehyung hums. "That does make sense."
"Wait," Yoongi says. "You haven't talked to Hoseok either, right?"
He sighs.
Jeongguk laughs lightly. "Don't worry, I was planning on talking to Hoseok after you guys anyway."
"Isn't he the guy that tried wooing you at the five year reunion?" Namjoon asks, frown on his face.
"Yup, and according to Facebook he's got a boyfriend and an almost-step-daughter."
Jeongguk puts a hand to his chest and mimics a hurt expression, then drops it a second later. "Bye, then. I'm going to see who else I can talk to. After eating. Who brought these in?" He gestures to the food table.
"Okay. See you, losers."
Yoongi rolls his eyes. He didn't see it, but he knows. He knows.
And with that, he walks over to the small table and grabs a plate and three different donuts.
"Hey," someone says right behind him.
He jumps in place and chokes, immediately hitting his chest and searching for water on the table. He spots it on the other end and takes a step forward, but the person curses and shoves a
He drinks and then coughs a little, and drinks again, turning to look at the person.
Of course it's Hoseok's chaotic ass.
"A bit of a warning next time, please?"
"I've been good. I'm a graphic designer and I have a nice apartment in Seoul. I've also been getting back into painting. I'm not progressing as fast
Hoseok smiles and brings his left hand up, displaying the gorgeous ring. "I'm a sugar baby."
Jeongguk snorts, then giggles. "Good for you. A bit old to start that career, but if it makes you happy then what the heck. Engaged?"
They giggle.
Hoseok holds a finger to his lips.
He laughs.
They talk longer than he did with Yoongi and the others, and even when other people join and leave their conversation.
They part, and soon he finds himself talking to Seokjin.
It's strange, meeting someone he used to ache with longing for. It took a while for him to get over Seokjin, but seeing him now,
"It's good to see you again, Seokjin-ah," Jeongguk says. He opens his arms and Seokjin sigh in relief, hugging him eagerly.
"It's good to see you too, Jeongguk-ah."
