wlw #wangxian where wy got pregnant at 16, the jiangs kicked her out, but through a lot of effort, she managed to raise a-yuan all on her own (the boy she was seeing bailed and, you know what, good riddance).
2
now at 26, wy's finally managed to get her feet under her enough to move to a better neighborhood and enroll a-yuan in a better school.

a-yuan's a little behind on his studies cause his previous school was... not the best, but luckily lan laoshi is the best teacher he's ever had
3
lan-laoshi notices right away that a-yuan more help and comes up with a plan to study with him after class to help him catch up to his level.

and that's how 26yo single mom wy finds herself in the presence of 5th-grade laoshi goddess, 30yo lz.
4
now listen, wy's been broke all her life, she knows how schools like this work, she remembers how madam yu used to complain about paying for her extracurricular activities, but most importantly, she knows how to bargain.
5
so wy walks up to lan-laoshi's office ready to haggle for a discount on these extra classes, but then she takes one look at lan-laoshi and immediately changes tactics.

wy opens a button on her shirt.

and proceeds to shamelessly flirt with lan-laoshi.
6
the fact that the woman is literally perfect, AND good with a-yuan makes wy want to charm her even more.

"ms. wei," lan-laoshi kindly interrupts wy's flirty rant on the problems with the education system.

"jiejie, why so formal? it's wei ying for you."
7
"mn, very well. wei ying?"

"yes?"

"would you like to go on a date with me?"

wy:
8
lz repeats the question.

wy, still 👁👄👁: nods enthusiastically

"good," lz says, sounding very satisfied tho she barely shows it. "now that is out of the way, i would like to discuss a-yuan's tutoring. Let me start by assuring you there will not be any extra cost for this."
9
"you wanna help a-yuan for free?"

lz confirms and that's it, wy falls in love right there.

so a-yuan starts staying an extra hour after class and when wy comes to pick him up at the end of the first day she brings coffee for lan-laoshi.
10
lz drinks it, but wy soon finds out lan-laoshi is more of a green tea kind of girl, so the next day wy comes prepared with tea AND pastries.

she also swings by her place to change into something sexier than her work uniform but that’s neither here nor there.
11
the thing is, when wy comes to get a-yan she doesn’t actually leave before she spends at least 40 minutes chatting with lz.

the conversations always start with a-yuan but they eventually branch out to their personal lives.
12
and that’s how wy finds that lz is also an orphan, that she has an uncle and brother, and that she never thought about being a teacher but she loves it now.

in exchange, wy tell her about the jiangs, and about raising a-yuan when she was basically a kid herself.
13
tho lz is a lot quieter than her, wy enjoys talking to her, she ejoys everything about lan-laoshi, even her silence.

the best part of wy’s day is when she gets to see her kid… and his teacher.
14
time goes by like this and it’s not long before a-yuan is all caught up to his level and won’t be needing extra classes anymore.

wy's in a gloomy mood when she comes to pick him up from his final extra class, she doesn’t even change from her work uniform.
15
it’s all her fault, for getting a crush on her kid’s teacher.

yes, lz asked her out when they met, but she never mentioned it again and ultimately wy thought lz had just said that to shut her up, so she didn’t bring it up either.
16
the school when she gets there, it usually is, so wy doesn’t think much of it, but then she spots a-yuan already waiting for her at the reception.

great, she won’t even get to say goodbye.

not that wy’s not gonna see her again, but it won’t be the same.
17
“mama!!” a-yuan runs to her and wy hugs him, ruffling his hair.

“miss me, baobei?” a-yuan nods enthusiastically, he seems, very enthusiastic.

wy figures getting an extra hour of free time will do that to a 10yo.
18
they should really get going, but she can’t help herself.

“hey, kid. Where’s lan-laoshi?”

a-yuan giggles, then he covers his mouth.

wy narrows her eyes at him.
19
“lan-laoshi is in her office,” the receptionist decides to have mercy on wy. “she asked me to tell ms. wei to swing by before leaving.”

“oh, okay,” wy says, “c’mon, kid.”

“uh, actually,” the receptionist calls, “i can watch a-yuan, we were… playing a game!”
20
wy looks at a-yuan, who still has his hands on his mouth and still looks like he does when he has too much sugar.

“okay,” she agrees, still looking suspiciously at the two of them.

lz’s door is closed when wy gets there, which is a first.

she knocks.
21
“lan zhan, you there? My kid’s acting real sus, do you kno-”

the rest of the sentence dies in her mouth when she opens the door to find lz’s desk has been cleared of all its usual content, and now there’s only a white cloth, some bowls and chopsticks.
22
“lan zhan?”

lz is standing up behind the table, she smiles, /she smiles/.

wy’s about to faint.

“i owe wei ying dinner.”

“lan zhan, i… i thought you didn’t mean it!”

“i mean everything i say.”

wy’s heart does several things that shouldn’t be humanly possible.
23
lz pulls out a chair for her and gestures for wy to take a seat. Then lz leaves to get their dinner.

wy is fully expecting her to bring a bag of takeout, but the containers lz’s caring when she gets back are clearly hers.

“did you cook for me?”
24
“mn,” lz confirms. “I wanted to do it at home, but it seemed presumptions, and i did not know if you’d feel comfortable bringing a-yuan over.”

“lan zhan!” this thoughtful, wonderful woman!

“i did, however, ask for his permission.” lz’s ears are bright pink when she says that.
25
wy wants to tease, but she’s too busy freaking out.

“you asked his permission for what exactly?”

lz avoids her eyes for a moment, then she looks at wy from under her long perfect eyelashes.

“to date wei ying,” she reveals.
26
it’s official!

wy’s gonna die if she doesn’t kiss this woman right now!

she barely manages to avoid knocking over all the delicious-smelling food before she’s jumping on lz’s arms.

wy pecks her lips, then her cheeks, her forehead, the tip of her nose, her chin, her lips again.
27
“wei ying,” lz breathes out.

“i like you so much,” wy tells her, “so much!”

“i like wei ying very much as well.”

“do you?” wy teases, 'cause she can’t not. “just how much does jiejie like her wei ying exactly?”
28
lz’s arms wrap tightly around wy’s waist, then she hoists wy up on the table.

wy opens her legs so lz can fit in the middle, then she closes them around lz’s hips.

lz takes a hold of wy’s chin, tilting her head up so wy has no option but to look at her.
29
“you are a wonderful parent, you are thoughtful and kind, you are funny, talkative, inventive. Wei ying has many qualities and i admire all of them. I am in love with you, and i would like to be a part of yours and a-yuan’s lives.”

wy has to blink back tears.
30
“okay, but this was supposed to be sexy?? I was ready to be ravished right on this table, why are you making me cry? Jiejie’s so mean, you have to take responsibility now.”

lz kisses her unshed tears away.
31
then she kisses wy for so long that wy nearly forgets what they were talking about.

it’s only when lz puts some distance between them, that wy realizes that she’s waiting for an answer.

“yes, yes,” wy nods. “A-yuan loves you, i love you, we want you all for ourselves. Forever!”
32
wy’s rewarded with another one of lz’s smiles, it makes her heart flutter.

“mn, we should eat,” lz suggests, then she commits the crime of stepping away from wy’s arms to go to the door.

“where are you going?”
33
“a-yuan's hungry too we should invite him, and the receptionist has to go home.” before she leaves lz gives wy a slow once-over “I’ll ravish wy on this table another time, promise”

lz's a woman of her word, she ravishes wy on that table many times, including the day she proposes
34
the end!
