You’re hidden away in the basement. Atlas is settled next to you, contentedly purring; Hephaestus is on your other, and you feel sort of trapped. You can get up any time, yet invisible chains keep you firmly placed on the basement floor. The cats’ purring is so, so loud…
3
You squeeze your eyes shut, pressing your palms against them; you can feel a headache coming on. They’re not uncommon, but you can sense this one will be bad.
4
The world shifts underneath you, and you fall over, scaring the Litleo and Shinx—they scramble out of the way in a panic, ears pricked, mewling in your direction.
5
You can feel their worry, and it doesn’t take long before the fire type kittens crawl onto your chest, curling up with their ears brushing your chin and cheeks.
6
Their own form of comfort… Yet it feels wrong. Off. You don’t bother moving them, you just take a deep breath and shut your eyes.

Might as well try and sleep off the headache…
7
The tiny Zorua prances over the path, ears pricked with anticipation. No one is out today, but that doesn’t mean walks aren’t fun! They’ve been testing their limits, traveling further and further, despite their mother’s warnings. Don’t stray beyond the den, stay home…
8
But a simple walk couldn’t hurt, right?

The path is well-beaten, and it’s obvious that humans use the path occasionally. Why else would there be tire tracks in the earth? Hopping over the large scores in the earth is hard, but nothing is too much for this spry little kit.
9
They continue their walk, ignoring the rumbling coming from the earth; it was probably nothing!
10
It was nothing until it wasn’t. A sharp shriek comes from ahead, and the tiny fox, curiosity winning over their fear, picks up the pace, jolting forward. They don’t hesitate as they follow the corner path…
11
A truck looms ahead, blocking out the sun. Cages upon rows of cages, full of a variety of Pokemon. Zorua, Lillipup, Purrloin and Patrat. The Pokemon shriek for help, but some warn the Zorua away, clawing at the bars of their cages.
12
Begging them to leave, be safe.
13
But the little Zorua feels brave. They’re a big fox now, and they have to save these poor Pokemon! A human steps out of the truck, clad in white and blue; their eyes are empty and dead, yet they’re still breathing. The Zorua takes a step forward, eyes glittering, teeth bared.
14
A howl comes from the top of the stack of cages—a Zorua with a sky-blue coat. She says to leave, but the Zorua takes another step forward.
15
They. Refuse.
16
The human ignores them for a moment, using an odd looking device—much like a net, but electronic—to blast one of the Lillipup with a white beam of light. The Lillipup freezes, and their eyes glaze ; sharing the same fate as the human. Empty and dead, yet still breathing.
17
The tiny black and red fox freezes, wondering if this is something they can pull off.
18
And before they can change their mind, they force their paws forward, lunging to bite the hunter’s arm; but the hunter spins around, much faster than Zorua thought possible, grabbing them by their scruff in the air.
19
Easily caught, the kit wriggles, yelping and shrieking in panic and anger.

But there’s no one to come save the little Zorua, and they’re thrown into one of the cages—the cage next to the empty-eyed Lillipup.
20
Click goes the lock—and the hunter disappears back into the truck’s cab—there’s a long journey ahead, and there is no escape for the tiny fox and their companions.
21
Seafoam hues shoot open, and tears sting at your eyes. Why won’t the dreams just GO AWAY? Those aren’t even the worst part, it’s always what comes after that makes your stomach churn and your heart ache.

The screams, the howls…
22
There’s a new face amongst the hunters today. That girl, the young one.
23
You reach up to rub your tears away, trying to chase away the nightmare, but it stays ingrained in your memory, and it will continue to.
24
Just like the others. Are these premonitions, or are they your stupid, broken mind making up tales to make you feel worse? Even the stars weren’t able to foretell this much to you, and you were just making shit up then.
25
As if reading the stars would give you the answers…

Your whole body aches, and you pray that things don’t turn out the way you think it will. They’re just dreams, they don’t mean anything, you’re just crazy…
26
But the girl… 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭…
