Izuku knows the three princes of Sange.

The Demon, who destroys all in a blaze on the battlefield.

The Creator, blurring the lines of life and death with his sentinent magic.

And then... The Decayer. The one with his hand on Izuku's neck.

BkDk (Older Queen A/B/O) Pt11
2
He feels the gold of his collar pressing against his skin, the only barrier between his nape and the steady touch.

Izuku doesn't tense, keeps breathing calm despite seeing the panic in the red eyes staring at him.

Kacchan probably knows this man's power better than anyone.
3
Olive seeps into his nose, which he finds quite ironic for a man who can annihilate everything he touches. It's hard to catch it under Kacchan and Shoto's growing scents of distress.

The fact Shoto takes longer to pick up on the tension means the prince is hiding his identity.
4
"Prince Shigaraki." Izuku doesn't face the man he's speaking to. "If I knew you were in town, I would have extended an invitation for your presence."

"My apologies, Queen Midoriya." The gravelly voice confirms what Izuku already knows. "I hadn't meant to intrude on your party."
5
"What are you doing here?" Kacchan growls out, his alpha blooming from his smoky scent while pressing a protective hand to the back of Eri's head. "I swear, if you hurt him-"

"It's alright," Izuku cuts in, knows from Eri's distressed scent that he needs to control the situation.
6
"I'll ask you once." The air dips in temperature as Shoto speaks his flat request. "Take your hand off Queen Midoriya."

"Touya mentioned you were quite loyal." Shigaraki only presses his palm closer to the collar. "He sends his regards."

Kacchan snarls. "I'll fucking kill you!"
7
A quick glance around shows they're catching attention. Most in Trev have never seen the princes of Sange, but Shoto's growing magical output and Kacchan's loud voice is setting the scene.

Eri whimpers, clings to Kacchan as she looks around. Like she needs a place to hide away.
8
'This is bad', he thinks, trying to find the best route to ease the growing whispers in the banquet hall. Izuku needs to calm everything down or risk the ball turning into pure chaos.

But how can he separate Shigaraki from Kacchan and Shoto without setting off their instincts?
9
He knows one way to relax a group of alphas, something only an omega can do. But Izuku lost his connection to THAT skill years ago, he doesn't know if it'll...

'Alpha's upset', his omega cries. Izuku is too worried about the situation to care about the wrongly possessive title.
10
Instead, he forces a coo to rattle his chest and throat. Like magic, his wrist and neck burn, a normal sign that ‌his glands are overworking themselves with his calming scent.

Anyone who cares about Izuku, who has a connection to him and wants to appease his omega, will react.
11
The aura around them changes in seconds; Eri's whimper eases to a purr, eased by Izuku's sweet scent.

Shoto and Kacchan's shoulders drop, scents settling from anger to comfort.

Kacchan's down deeper than Shoto, his pupils blowing open as he hides his fangs. It's... thrilling.
12
But when the hand on his nape loses some of its grip on his collar, Izuku knows he needs to use the moment to his advantage.

"Prince Shigaraki," he says, finally turning around to look at his 'captor'. Sure enough, he's wearing a gray and black mask, blending in with the guests.
13
He's not a fan of the hand now on the side of his neck, where his gland sits under the collar. But the protective jewelry shields him from any scenting or bites.

"Prince Katsuki-" The name's weird on his tongue now. "Has already danced with me. Would you like one, as well?"
14
"Your Highness." Shoto rarely protests any of Izuku's plans, trusting he knows what he's doing. But given Izuku's stepping into the lion's den, the worry is valid.

Kacchan's growl is deadly, though Izuku's lingering scent is keeps everyone from fighting again.

Shigaraki hums.
15
"If you value your safety, the pets won't follow." It's not the words that Izuku focuses on, but the tone. His warning is something just for Izuku to understand.

"You'd threaten Queen Midoriya in front of us?"

"I'm gonna kill you-"

"They'll stay." He interrupts both alphas.
16
He looks behind him at the two, hoping his smile and confidence promise he'll be okay. "We don't know who else he snuck into the ball tonight. Protect Eri, no matter what happens."

Izuku doesn't wait for a response before returning his attention to Shigaraki, offering his hand.
17
Shigaraki ignores it, keeping the grip on his neck. He doesn't answer with words, leading Izuku onto the courting floor.

The other hand, now in his, feels clinical. There's nothing warm in the sterile touch, and though Shigaraki's skill is comparable to Kacchan's, it's cold.
18
Izuku ignores how his omega whines at sharing a dance with anyone but Kacchan. He leans close enough for only their ears to catch. "Did you bring your guards?"

"Why, scared?" He scoffs. "But no, Touya and Kurogiri didn't breach your protective shields. None of mine are inside."
19
Izuku lets Shigaraki lead them through another sweep of motions before he asks what he's wondered for weeks. "Tenko, did King Zen find our crows?"

Their communication hadn't been picked up on for five years.

Because to Izuku, 'Shigaraki' and 'Tenko' are two different people.
20
Shigaraki is who terrorizes Izuku's men the first five years he's queen. Who has no fear or shame in killing whoever goes against King Zen.

Tenko is who Izuku stumbles across in the woods five years ago, and a choice between two strangers with the same dream shifts the war.
21
The single connection between them is the mage that changes both of their lives; Himiko.

Before she meets Ochaco and falls in love, she's one of Tenko's guards.

He helps her escape to Trev. In exchange, they meet each season to cleanse his mind of King Zen's corruption magic.
22
Izuku doesn't mean to stumble onto this ritual, or realize Tenko is NOT under King Zen's control. That, unlike Kacchan, he knows King Zen is the reason for the decimation of his own town.

From day one, Shigaraki plans to kill King Zen, and thinks Izuku is the key to doing it.
23
Since then, its all been a ruse. Izuku doesn't know how Shigaraki keeps his betrayal out of King Zen's line of sight, never actually advancing his side of the war.

He still destroys towns; he has to to keep their alliance secret. But the death toll is low since their meeting.
24
"No," the prince replies, face staying passive despite his troubling news. "But with his new plan to destroy you and your people, I've been in close proximity with Chisaki. Sending anything would make that paranoid freak question me. So I hijacked his plan tonight to sneak in."
25
It's the news he dreads hearing. "He's going to attack during the ball."

"To kidnap you and kill your new lapdog." There's no real love between the princes, as seen by Shigaraki lacking any pain over Kacchan's potential death. "An order directly from King Zen."

"Why tonight?"
26
Shigaraki spins them again, and he can see the red eyes scanning around, like he's waiting for something. "It's the perfect night."

"Not to come for me," Izuku argues, trying not to let his anxiety grow. "All of my soldiers and people are here; it's the worst time to attack."
27
"Who would stop him? Your unarmed army too drunk on omega stench? The citizens without weapons or armor, stuck in a room with only two exits? It's a buffet for his type of magic."

Shigaraki sounds bored, but the way he see the event's weakness in such a short time is impressive.
28
"Besides, you forced this by keeping the prince alive." Izuku isn't sure what that means, but Shigaraki continues. "Trev's tradition states any bond completed the night of the ball is law. So, if Chisaki can bond with you, he’d become king. Meaning he could order any execution."
29
"And he'll use that power to kill Kacchan."

He wouldn't allow it, even if Trev's law gives an alpha more power than an omega. Refusing to linger on that ending, he rushes to find a solution.

"But I'd never mate with him willingly. How does he plan to get the bond to stick?"
30
"You think he’d tell me?" Shigaraki dips Izuku, but the grim gaze that meets his fills his stomach with cockroaches over butterflies. "He's willing to do anything for King Zen. He doesn't care who he manipulates or kills to get in his good graces. You're an obstacle to that."
31
Izuku is dizzy when he's pulled upright again. Feeling more vulnerable than he's felt in years, Izuku grabs Shigaraki's shoulder to keep himself from collapsing on the floor.

"Tenko," he whispers, still missing a crucial piece of information. "Why do they need Kacchan dead?"
32
A strange shimmer of black passes over Shigaraki before he tenses, grimacing like he's in pain. "I can't tell you."

"A hex." Something even Himiko can't cleanse. Which means- "King Zen hexed you?"

"He hexed... something in the castle's catacombs. I found it. He doesn't know."
33
It seems even admitting that is dangerous, as a hint of blood drips from the prince's nose. Whatever is beneath Sange's castle, King Zen makes sure nobody can speak of it and survive.

And it has something to do with Kacchan. Something that explains why King Zen needs him dead.
34
Still, Shigaraki keeps his calm composure, like his own blood isn't a new sight. "If you two survive tonight, you need to bring Katsuki back to Sange. It's the only way he can learn the truth about his family."

"But he already knows that King Zen killed his parents," Izuku says.
35
The black haze of the hex shimmers again, and Izuku wonders what he says that's connected to the secret in the catacombs.

Shigaraki ends the dance with a final warning. "My side of our plan is ready to overthrow Zen. But you have to be willing to declare war on Sange again."
36
"I don't..." Izuku hesitates. He just brought his men home from war. How can he ask them to return after giving them a taste of peace?

Before he can speak up, Shigaraki's eyes flicker past Izuku. "Well, I warned you."

"What?" Izuku realizes what he means. "No, stay and help-!"
37
But a snap of Shigaraki's fingers makes a familiar black portal appear behind him, and the prince vanishes like a ghost from the ball.

His flashy exit makes the crowd restless again.

Before Izuku can warn anyone, a burst of magic blows out the window of the banquet hall.
38
Izuku covers his face before looking up, eyes widening when strange creatures crawl through the new space. His head snaps to the opposite side of the room when more windows break, and a closer look makes him realize the monsters are made of nature, not flesh.

"Chisaki's magic."
39
Despite them only being alive because of sentient magic, they're still dangerous. Looking like goblins, their sharp teeth and claws come out as they lunge at some citizens, who scream and run for their lives.

The alarm rings, but the army patrolling will take time to get there.
40
Izuku rushes forward when seeing one wood creature topple a masked woman over, using all his strength to rip the rabid beast away. Avoiding its bites and snarls, he shouts to the frightened omega behind him.

"Stay low and get to the doors!"

Thankfully, she doesn't argue.
41
Once she's safe, Izuku kicks the creepy monster away, scanning for something close to use as a weapon. He doesn't come to a banquet expecting this.

"Queen Midoriya!" Izuku's head snaps up the same time an ice wall forms in front of him, stopping three goblins from reaching him.
42
"Die!" Kacchan shouts before explosion magic crackles out, blowing the sentient mud monsters apart.

Kacchan's on a rampage, blowing up the ones near the citizens. Izuku watches in awe before Shoto and Eri appear next to him. "Come, Prince Katsuki will block our path to escape."
43
Izuku wants to agree, but he catches Eri's trembling frame in Shoto's grip. Her terrified look means she knows who is attacking them.

'I can't put her in danger,' he thinks. If Chisaki gets a hold of her again, Izuku would comply with any demand in exchange for her freedom.
44
So he steps back, shaking his head. "Take Eri and get her to the safe room in my suite."

"Your Highness-"

"After that, work with Tenya to limit the attacks. I'll take The Creator away from here!"

Then, Izuku sprints away, ignoring the calls of his name as he forms a plan.
45
Though they're not kept sharp, the banquet walls are decorated with weapons to honor the fallen. Izuku rips a small sword from its sheath before cutting through a group of monsters.

Then, he rips the doors leading to the back courtyard open.

He knows Chisaki is watching.
46
One look back to the banquet brings relief. His army is rushing in to protect the citizens. The ones from the banquet as guests fight, too, uncaring of their torn suits as they battle back the tiny distractions.

The goblins are nothing more than distractions from the real goal.
47
'He wants me,' Izuku thinks, knowing he needs the title first before he can go for Kacchan.

Because the prince could never beat the Demon of the Battlefield. Not without a crown on his head and his bite-mark on Izuku's gland.

But Izuku would rather die than hand Kacchan over.
48
He makes sure his 'escape' is obvious before he runs into the darkened courtyard, knowing exactly where he's going.

Chisaki thinks coming to Izuku's castle and attacking when their defenses are down is a good move.

But Izuku's need to save his people makes him MORE dangerous.
49
He ignores the branches scratching his bare arms as he sprints into the hedge maze, one he knows like the back of his hand.

His ear catches a sole pair of boots following him, and Izuku swings to a hidden part of the maze. Crouching down, the grip on his sword tightens, waiting.
50
A minute later, a shadowed figure walks past him, Izuku peeking out of a small hole in the shrub.

Chisaki wears black armor, his mask curving like a scythe. Izuku can almost feel the evil intent pouring off the man. His purple cloak billows, Sange's crest in the middle of it.
51
"Queen Midoriya." Hearing his title in the man's eerily calm voice makes a chill run down his back. "It's not proper to only dance with two of Sange's princes. Come out and accept my offer."

There's a purple glow around the man's hand. Leaves suddenly move along Izuku's back.
52
He swings away before the now sentient wall moves to grab him, sword hacking across the outstretched branches.

Izuku leaps back at the next attack, avoiding the vines trying to wrap around his wrists. The last thing he needs is to be bound around an alpha trying to bond.
53
After chopping the next set of branches, he stumbles into the maze's open center. Knowing Chisaki's cowardly fighting style, he doesn't hesitate to swing his sword around, slamming the weapon into the prince's side.

It knocks him off his feet, breaking his magical connection.
54
"If you value your life, you'll leave," Izuku warns, despite being unsure if the blunt sword can pierce Chisaki's armor.

He tries to catch his breath as he holds the weapon in front of him, watching the man push to his feet with a growl.

"Not until we complete King Zen's will."
55
"I won't be your mate," Izuku says, knowing Chisaki won't listen. "I'm not in heat. Even if I was, I know my omega. Your claim won't stick."

"We'll see about that." Chisaki pulls out a dagger, pink magic spilling from the blade.

Izuku doubts its stronger than Himiko's power.
56
Except-

'My spell will keep fading until it fully breaks during your next heat.'

Did Himiko mean for ALL alphas? Or just his true mate? If the dagger, probably doused in a heat-inducing spell, nicks him-

Izuku grits his teeth, one thought in mind.

'Win, or Kacchan dies.'

So... who doesn't love a party crasher?? Because honestly, not a good party without one.

Some guessed Shiggy, some guessed an ally, but did anyone guess both?
