Izuku has never talked to the police in his life.

He's a good kid, too busy as a teenager, and his teaching of children keeps him on the right path.

But then his school starts 'Career Friday', and he's introduced to Officer Bakugo. Which starts... fate.

2
It's week four of the new routine. They've hosted a nurse, a screenwriter, and a professional athlete, and all have gone well.

But working with hormonal sixteen-year-olds is always an adventure.

"Mina, you're sitting at Hanta's desk?" He asks when seeing the strange change.
3
"Because men are jerks and we should live like the Amazonians." She sends a casual look toward a tense red-head before she flops on the desk.

Izuku only smiles. He tries not to snoop in high school drama, but he isn't deaf. Ejiro and Mina are the 'will they won't they' couple.
4
"Ah, I see. Well, so long as the Amazonians did their journaling homework, I'll support it." He pats her head when she only groans.

"Mr. Midoriya, aren't we having our career visit during your class?"

"Yes, we'll have a guest today," he answers Ochaco. "So best behavior."
5
Before anyone can protest the warning, there's a knock on the door. The instant giggles and little murmurs pulls his attention to the new guest.

And for a moment, he understands what's got his class showing their age so easily. He kinda feels like an inexperienced teenager, too.
6
The cop uniform doesn't normally do anything for him, except this one's on the body of someone he thinks could keep up with him at the gym.

There's a messiness to the man's appearance despite his attire, like his unbuttoned top and slanted belt.

None of it looks wrong, though.
7
His face looks sharp yet soft, neither fully fitting the expectation of a member from the police. And yet Izuku knows he'd probably listen to anything this officer said.

When red eyes narrow on him like a question, he forces himself to settle. "Um, hello! Welcome, officer...?"
8
"Bakugo." His boots sound confident when he walks into the room, and Izuku wonders how he owns the space without any real power.

"Officer Bakugo," he repeats to the man stepping right into Izuku's space.

He wishes his cheeks weren't so quick to darken when flustered.
9
"You Deku?" The voice makes him nod before he picks up on the wrong name.

"Izuku," he answers, then quickly amends it when hearing a small giggle from the students watching. "Or Mr. Midoriya. Whatever you want to call me."

"Sure." There's a tease in the tone. "Mr. Deku."
10
"That's-"

He holds back his response (that may have been a little too flirty) when remembering where he was. Clearing his throat, he turns away from the officer, ignores how his shoulder touches the firm chest from their proximity.

"Right. Everyone, welcome Officer Bakugo."
11
The rest of his time with the eye-catching man, Izuku sits at his desk and pretends he's not as love-struck as the students.

Officer Bakugo's blunt, a little moutheir than he'd like in his class, but also connects really well with the kids. He's popular without even trying.
12
When the bell rings, Izuku barely makes eye-contact with the officer before Momo and Jirou's call of his name regarding their after-school study session makes any proper goodbye impossible.

By the time he helps them, the officer's gone. He thinks that'll be the end of things.
13
A week later, Izuku's on his morning run when he gets stabbed.

It sounds scarier than it really is, because he's trained in self-defense and the man he stops from stealing his neighbor's purse doesn't know how to use a knife.

But Granny Chiyo makes him wait for the police.
14
He's letting a nice EMT wrap up his forearm when a scoff comes from above. "Thought you were a teacher, not some vigilante superhero."

"Officer Bakugo?" He lifts his head, then winces from the slight headache he has (from the attack or all the flashing lights, he's not sure)
15
Luckily, the officer crouches next to where he sits on the ambulance's bumper. "Yeah, unlike some of us, I wasn't lying about my job."

"Teachers can know self-defense," he says, and glances at his wound with a sigh. "To be honest, I'm a little mad I let him get that close."
16
"That's why you're supposed to leave it to the professionals, Deku." The nickname doesn't feel like an insult with a slight smirk on the officer's face.

Still, he protests. "Well, I can't let Granny get robbed. She needs that food to feed her alley cats."

"You're an idiot."
17
"He's a hero, Katsuki." The EMT know him well enough to use his first name, the man sticking his tongue out. "Be a sweetheart and walk him home."

"Oh, it's fine!" Izuku rushes out. "It's just down the road-"

"Shut up, nerd." Then he glares at the man. "You too, birdbrain."
18
But after yelling, Katsuki (cute nicknames for him run through Izuku's head for the rest of the day) does what the other blond asks.

Of course Izuku offers him a water as a thanks for bringing him home. Which allows them to talk a little before Katsuki's called on his radio.
19
A long glance is shared before he leaves, and Izuku might watch him from the window until he's out of sight.

Two chance meetings with nothing to show for it makes Izuku accept he's making things up in his head.

But fate's set on dragging them together by any means necessary.
20
Two days later, their paths meet, though Izuku wishes they hadn't.

This date he's on is terrible, if he's being honest. He's self-centered, rude to staff, and dismissive of Izuku's interests.

The best part of it has been getting the check (which the guy slides his way).
21
He finds the perfect reason end the date with the man who's had too many drinks for him to be comfortable with. "I'll grab an Uber-"

"Why?" As if he thinks they're compatible, the man places a hand too low on his back and pulls him toward the car. "We're not done."

"Let go-"
22
"Oi." The rude introduction is a breath of fresh air, Izuku already smiling when catching the familiar red gaze. "Got a problem here?"

"Officer Katsuki," he whispers, and uses the moment of his date's surprise to scamper out of the dangerous grip. "You're on patrol tonight?"
23
"Well I ain't here for fun." Except he doesn't look down at Izuku, his arm leading him behind a broad back. "This fucker drunk?"

"You can't talk to me like that." Izuku's (ex)date, shows his tipsy entitlement. "I pay your salary."

"Doesn't mean you get to be drunk in public."
24
"Please don't let him drive," Izuku mumbles from behind him, worried about the innocent people on the road.

"He you boyfriend?"

Is Izuku imagining the hint of jealousy? "No, a terrible date set up by my co-workers."

"Tch." With a smirk, he switches into Officer Bakugo mode.
25
For all his bite and bravado, Katsuki does treat his date like any regular citizen when putting him through the sobriety tests.

The jerk mouths off and shows his drunk status enough that when another officer arrives, his date's cuffed and put in the back of their car.
26
"You really like finding trouble, huh?"

Izuku feels a little guilty for being a thorn in his side so many times. "Sorry."

"You make the guy get shitfaced and try to shove you into his car?" When Izuku shakes his head, Katsuki flicks his cheek. "Then don't apologize, Deku."
27
The pinch of pain makes Izuku's mouth run before his brain catches up. "Kacchan, don't be mean. I'm a civilian!"

"Kacchan?" The repetition of his nickname stalls Izuku's thoughts, sputtering at Katsuki's huff. "What are we, twelve?"

"W-Well, you have a name for me so..."
28
"Yeah yeah, focus on how you're getting home." Katsuki (or was it Kacchan, now that he knew and didn't mind?) glances at his watch and scowls. "It's kinda late to get a ride."

"I'll be fine. You're working, and I live too far."

Kacchan's scowl proves he hates Izuku's right.
29
"Give me your phone."

Izuku tenses at the demand, unsure if its part of the case still or not.

"Oh, sure... for your file?" He asks.

"No." His shoulders relax when Kacchan's gaze turns nervous before he tries to casually glance away. "So you can text me once you're home."
30
Izuku's eyes went wide with the unspoken offer. "So I... you want me to text you?"

"I just said that, so gimme your phone." Which Izuku does, happily.

He messages Kacchan once he's safe, snuggled under blankets in a baggy shirt that he could imagine as a certain officer's.
31
Kacchan replies a little sooner than he expects with the cop on duty. Like maybe he's been waiting for Izuku's text.

Izuku falls asleep with a smile too wide after such a terrible date.

But in the morning, Izuku's left with a dilemma. Had Kacchan meant they could keep texting?
32
The fear and anxiety makes him open and close the conversation for days. He even gets scolded by Iida, the current junior class's president, about having his phone out in school.

Despite how much he wants to text Kacchan, the lack of messages received keeps his fingers still.
33
Fate, never one to be ignored, makes their final interaction too explosive to ignore.

As in bus-crashing into the side of a building explosive.

The field trip to the zoo gets abruptly cut short when their driver passes out at the wheel. Thankfully, none of the kids are hurt.
34
Izuku is the one to call the police before he jumps into action, getting all of his students off the smoking bus.

"Mr. Midoriya, your head's bleeding," Tsu says, though he waves her off while helping her hop out of the back and into Shoji's arms.

"I'm okay, just a cut."
35
Even the class clown, Kaminari, looks spooked. "Looks pretty gnarly, teach."

"Head wounds just bleed more," he answers, then moved to help the next student.

Except by the time he's got all the kids safe, and he hears the police's shouts approaching, he suddenly feels faint.
36
"Mr.Midoriya!" He isn't sure when he closes his eyes during his fall off the bus ledge, but he does notice he never hits the pavement.

Instead, strong arms catch him with a grunt. The dizziness of the blood loss doesn't matter when he hears him.

"Hey, Deku. Eyes on me."
37
"Ka...cchan?" He mumbles before pushing his eyes open, wondering if he's actually dreaming.

"You ain't dreaming, Nerd." Did he say that out loud? "Yeah, still doing it. So shut up and let me take you to the ambulance."

"But, my students-"

"I'll take care of the brats. Relax."
38
Hawks (the EMT from before) tells Izuku he's gotta go to the hospital to get checked out.

He's upset about the class's missed field trip, though the distress doesn't last long.

Hawks, on a check-in later, gives him surprising news. "Katsuki's squad took them to the zoo."
39
"I'm sorry?" Izuku tries to process the information.

Hawks looks more than happy to rat out the officer. "Guess they were all worried about you, so your knight in shining armor asked his chief to take them for 'community building'."

The explanation makes his heart melt.
40
It keeps him warm until the man of the hour makes a surprise visit, Kacchan carrying a stuffed tiger and a card from the zoo.

"Your class is fucking stupid," Kacchan says while tossing the present into his hospital bed.

"They're juniors," is all he can say in their defense.
41
Kacchan scoffs, but walks over to take the seat his mother had occupied before. "You gonna live, Nerd?"

"Yeah, just a few stitches." And bruised ribs from being thrown, though he doesn't plan to tell anyone that. He looks down at the plushie, his smile soft. "Thank you."
42
"For what? The chief made me take them." Which he knows is a lie, but its kinda cute that Kacchan tries to hide his sweet side.

But red ears and glare to the side gives him away.

Izuku bites his lip before he grabs the other's wrist. "Can I repay you? With... dinner maybe?"
43
Kacchan finally looks back at him, but the hint of his pout isn't what Izuku expects. "Don't force yourself to do shit you don't wanna."

"I do!" Panicking, Izuku tugs Kacchan closer, to the point of almost pulling him into the hospital bed. "I've w-wanted to for days, promise!"
44
"Then why haven't you texted me?" The sudden question earns Izuku's squeak, and Kacchan narrows his eyes. "Don't act like you forgot my number."

"No! But I didn't know if I could use it outside of... police situations."

"What, you think I give it to every idiot I meet?"
45
The arched brow proves how dumb the idea is, so Izuku skips over it. "W-Well, you didn't exactly text me, either!"

"Cause I texted last." And that's.... true. Izuku had fallen asleep during the initial conversation. "Wow, now I get where your students get it from."

"Kacchan!"
46
Kacchan rolls his eyes and wiggles his wrist, still stuck in Izuku's steel grip. "Let go, ya damn octopus. I've gotta get back."

"And then dinner?" He swallows at Kacchan's pause. "Not to pay you back. Just because I want to."

"Tch." Yet he leans over Izuku. "In that case..."
47
Kacchan's kiss isn't deep or life-changing, just the smallest peck on his mouth.

Izuku still shivers under the gentle touch, licks his lip when Kacchan pulls away.

"Call me when you're out." Kacchan pauses before he scoffs. "And use my number, not the emergency line."
48
"It's not my fault," Izuku protests even as the cop walks to the doorway.

"Then whose is it?"

"Well..." Kacchan glances over his shoulder, Izuku still awed by the pretty face. "It's... fate."

"Yeah?" Kacchan smirks. "Guess I owe it a favor, then."

Izuku couldn't agree more.

This is just pure, non-realistic, un-true FLUFF and I don't care. Get cavities and burn in the sugary sweetness!!
