Isometrics are one of the most undervalued tools in training.

I use them everywhere, from rehab and tissue remodeling, to motor learning, to performance work. That includes yielding isos (holding against load), overcoming isos (pushing into an immovable object) and pairing
2
them with dynamic movements.

In rehab, they’re often our first step back to movement. Studies have shown that even a few days of unloading can reduce tendon collagen synthesis and stiffness, so we can’t afford to stay immobile. Isometrics help restore neural drive, build
3
tension tolerance and remind the brain that it’s safe to produce force/start moving again.

Both The Art & Science of Sport Preparation and Speed Kills use isometrics and eccentrics throughout the programming and the eBook sections go deeper into why these contractions matter
4
for sprinting and performance.

You can grab them individually or bundle both for massive savings, almost a two-for-one deal.

Some of my earlier programs are on sale right now, including Sprint from Scratch, my complete beginner speed program, and the PlayStrong Bundle, my
5
youth athletic development system.
