Let's have a look at these four guys. Everything about them seems to be different. Religion. Ideology. Political regime. And yet, there is a common denominator uniting all:

Irrespectively of their political, ideological, religious and whatever differences, Russia, China, the United States, Iran are all governed by the old. Whatever regime, whatever government they have, it is the septuagenarians and octogenarians who have the final saying in it.

This fact is more consequential than it seems. To explain why, let me introduce the following idea:

Russia, China, America, or Iran are composed of people belonging to the radically different cultures, formed in the different times, and under the different circumstances. Zoomers are nothing like millenials. Millenials are nothing like boomers. And so on.

The old in power have been shaped by the formative experiences of their youth. They have been shaped by the circumstances that have passed, and will never repeat again. All of that makes them aliens in the world of today, refugees from the world that no longer exists.

Soon they will die, and be succeeded by a new generation born in a different era, shaped by the different circumstances, harbouring different convictions & different prejudices of which we know nothing because we are over-focused on the soon-to-be irrelevant beliefs of the old
