Cursor v0.50 is here and it’s a game-changer I went through all the...

I went through all the updates so you don’t have to.
Here’s what’s new and what it means for you as an AI-powered builder ↓
The old subscription plans are gone.
Everything now runs on requests:
- Standard mode stays the same
- Max Mode uses token pricing (just like OpenAI)
You only pay for what you use.
You can now use Max Mode with top models like Claude, GPT-4o, etc.
Ideal for:
- Long context prompts
- Smarter reasoning
- Complex refactors
Perfect for advanced tasks and feature planning.
Cursor can now run tasks in the background.
Fix bugs. Add features. Refactor. All without blocking your main session.
You keep building while the Agent works behind the scenes.
Note: It’s in preview, so expect some bugs; Windows support TBD.
You can now use @ folders to add your entire codebase into context, just make sure to enable Full folder contents from settings.
If a folder (or file) is too large to be included, you'll see a small icon on the context pill indicating this.
Great for:
- Rewrites
- Deep refactors
- Project-wide changes
Inline Edit (Cmd/Ctrl+K) has gotten a UI refresh and new options for full file edits (⌘⇧⏎) and sending to agent (⌘L)
You can:
- Make structural changes
- Send code blocks to the Agent
- Reuse snippets across large components
More flexibility, less switching.
The Agent now supports precise search and replace.
It can target exact sections inside long files without messing up the rest.
Currently supported by Claude.
You can now open and work on multiple codebases in a single session.
No more switching between folders.
Great for:
- Monorepos
- Shared component libraries
- Microservices
Cursor now sees your actual folder structure.
It fixes:
- Broken import paths
- Misplaced files
- Bad completions
Turn this on in Settings → Features → “Include project structure”
You can now:
- Export chat to markdown
- Duplicate conversations to try multiple solutions
Finally, full control over your AI workflows.
Cursor v0.50 is a huge leap forward.
Faster builds. Smarter agents. More context control.
If you’re serious about vibe coding, this update is a must.
