He couldn't help but steal a glance at his future husband.
The suit clung to Jungkook's body, the sharp lines of the tailored fabric highlighting the muscles beneath.
Jungkook didn't respond, his attention fixed on the road ahead.
His grip remained as it is on the steering wheel and not once did his gaze flicker to Taehyung's.
They sat in awkward silence for several minutes, the hum of the car the only sound between them.
He hated how his words stumbled, but he was too annoyed to care.
Jungkook let out a soft exhale, still silent, his eyes unwavering from the road.
"I'm matching your energy," Jungkook finally muttered.
Taehyung scoffed. "I don't ghost people and act like they don't exist when they talk to me."
Taehyung let out a frustrated sigh. "What's with the attitude? What's going on with you?"
"Nothing." Jungkook shrugged, his tone cold. "I told you, I'm just matching your energy."
Jungkook smiled bitterly. "Yeah, sure..." he murmured as he parked the car. "We're late. Quit bitching about everything and let's go."
Taehyung's heart sank, the weight of Jungkook's words settling heavily in his chest.
His gaze shifted away from Jungkook, the hollow feeling spreading.
A deep pout formed on his lips as he got out of the car without a word, the nagging sense of being unwanted clawing at his chest.
"Did you tell him the truth?" Wooshik asked casually, taking a slow sip from his drink, but his eyes never left Taehyung's face.
Taehyung swallowed hard, his throat dry. "He's being an ass. Ever since I denied my feelings, he's been acting like this." His lips curled downward.
Wooshik let out a long, thoughtful breath. "I think he's acting like this because you keep pushing him away."
Taehyung's gaze dropped to his untouched drink. "I wasn't trying to push him away..."
Jungkook's smile was so wide—so carefree, it felt like a stab to his heart.
Taehyung scoffed, his gaze narrowing as he gestured towards Jungkook and Sunhee. "Look at them."
Wooshik sighed, running a hand through his hair as he shot Taehyung a questioning look. "What?"
Taehyung's lips trembled. "I think he likes her. That's why he suggested ending the contract with me.”
Wooshik's expression fell, his brows furrowing deeply. "Tae, you two have been dating for two months now."
"Fake dating, hyung," Taehyung emphasized sharply.
Wooshik's eyes widened. "You—why would you even say that?"
Taehyung frowned, his mind racing.
Wooshik stood in silence for a moment before he spoke again. "He said he was trying to match your energy, right?"
Taehyung's jaw tightened as he nodded.
Taehyung's frown deepened as he turned to Wooshik. "What?"
Taehyung's expression faltered, a moment of doubt flashing across his face.
"Why don't you try?" Wooshik insisted. "I'll help."
Taehyung's lips parted in surprise. "You want me to be all lovey dovey with you? Hell no!"
Wooshik rolled his eyes. "It's just an act, dummy!"
Taehyung's frown started to fade gradually as he considered the offer, the idea swirling in his mind.
The possibility of playing along, even if just for a moment, felt oddly tempting.
For a split second, he almost wished Jungkook would glance in his direction, just to acknowledge him.
But he never did.
"I don't think it'll work, hyung."
Wooshik let out a heavy sigh. "Fine. Keep complaining then," he said, taking another sip from his drink.
Taehyung's expression twisted as he looked away, the knot in his chest growing tighter.
Not a flicker of recognition.
Taehyung swallowed the lump in his throat before turning to face Wooshik, a hesitant breath escaping him. "F-Fine, let's do it..."
Jungkook sighed. "I won't pay anything—I'm not asking for much, just help me out already!" His voice came out desperate.
Sunhee scoffed, a small laugh escaping her. "Help you?" She said.
Jungkook forced a smile, the edges of his mouth twitching. "I'll give you credits during my wedding speech after we get married," he said, gesturing towards Taehyung.
"Nothing, just keep talking to me." Jungkook's smile lingered. "It's working. I just know it."
"Not like I was dying to get married to you either," Jungkook retorted as he twirled the ice in his drink, eyes avoiding hers.
Jungkook frowned. "You started this."
Sunhee's gaze shifted to Taehyung and Wooshik.
"What?" Jungkook's frown deepened as he followed her gaze.
His expression faltered almost immediately, his eyes wide in disbelief as he watched Taehyung and Wooshik
Wooshik's arm snaked around Taehyung's waist, and the two clinked their glasses together, both smirking before drinking their wine.
Jungkook's jaw tensed, the muscles in his face clenching. "What the fuck?"
Sunhee snorted, her lips curling into an amused smirk. "This is going to be fun to watch."
Without a second thought, his own arm circled Taehyung's waist, pulling him in close, forcing him to stand next to him. "Have some shame, would you?"
"What the hell is your problem?" Wooshik snapped, raising both brows in challenge.
Jungkook's words wavered for a split second. "He's—" He stuttered. "We're... we're exclusive," he finally blurted.
Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "Says us," he replied sharply.
Taehyung shot him a piercing look, mirroring his glare. "Us?" His lashes fluttered as he met Jungkook's gaze. "There's no us, stop lying to yourself."
Once they were out of the public's view, Jungkook shoved Taehyung against the wall. "What the fuck are you doing?"
Jungkook's frustration boiled over, his body inching closer. "Do it away from the public eye—I don't give a fuck."
Jungkook's expression shifted. "You're the one who's dying to get a divorce before even getting married.”
"Is that what this is? You're acting?" Taehyung's voice faltered slightly, but he kept his tone controlled, hiding the disappointment.
Taehyung's gaze dropped, eyes glistening as he looked away.
No matter how hard he tried to push the feeling down, his chest still tightened at Jungkook's words.
Maybe it was only him who felt attached.
Jungkook inhaled sharply. "What?"
Tears formed in his eyes, but he hastily wiped them away.
Jungkook's expression shifted, his eyes softening as he stepped closer, instinctively reaching for Taehyung.
Taehyung shook his head desperately. "Please, just—stop it..." His voice cracked as he looked down at his feet, his hands covering his eyes.
"I do care," Jungkook's voice was quieter now, filled with a desperation Taehyung hadn't expected. He reached out again, moving Taehyung's hands away from his face. "Look at me, please." He urged softly.
"Tae, please... look at me." Jungkook tried again, his voice pleading now. He closed the distance between them, leaving barely any space between their bodies.
A faint sigh left Jungkook's lips as his thumbs brushed against Taehyung's cheeks. "This... This is all I wanted from you."
Taehyung's breath caught in his chest.
Baby.
Jungkook had just called him that for the first time since they started this whole fake relationship thing.
And he never realized how much he loved the way it sounded until now—
"Do you know how exhausting it was to chase after you?" Jungkook murmured, his fingers lingering on Taehyung's skin, tracing soft, reassuring strokes. "To keep trying to show you—over and over again—
Taehyung pouted in guilt, momentarily looking away.
"I liked you from the very first moment too, Taehyung," Jungkook confessed.
Taehyung let out a soft chuckle, his lips pressing together as his cheeks flushed, the warmth spreading all the way to the tips of his ears.
Taehyung's smile faded slightly as he met Jungkook's gaze. "I thought you didn't want me," he admitted.
Jungkook shook his head with a knowing smile. "That was just another way to get under your skin, to push you until you finally snap—like you did tonight—
Taehyung swallowed, shaking his head. "So... what now?" His voice wavered slightly. "You really like me? You're... not faking it?"
Jungkook hesitated for a moment, his eyes searching Taehyung's. "I never admitted it before because... I didn't want you to feel obligated to return my feelings. I didn't want to pressure you," he murmured.
"And... I may have told my father about it."
Taehyung blinked in confusion. "About what?"
Jungkook's lips curled into a small, teasing smile, hovering so close that they almost brushed against Taehyung's.
A wave of heat flushed through Taehyung's entire face. "Ready...?"
Jungkook didn't answer right away.
Instead, he tilted his head slightly, letting his lips graze the very corner of Taehyung's in a featherlight kiss.
"Ready to marry you," Jungkook whispered, his smile widening. "Make it official. You know... spread the word too."
"I don't think we should wait any longer." Jungkook said.
"And one more thing..." His throat bobbed as he swallowed. "I don't want our relationship to be open. If we're doing this—if we're making it real—
Taehyung's heart pounded so hard. His fingers twitched before reaching up, settling at the nape of Jungkook's neck.
He pulled him in without a second thought, crashing their lips together.
Jungkook's hands found Taehyung's waist, gripping him tight.
"I'd love that too," Taehyung murmured between the kisses as he chased Jungkook's lips for more. "Suggesting that in the first place was just... wrong. It was a mistake."
When they finally pulled away, breathless and flushed, their eyes met, both of them smiling like fools.
"You have no idea how long I've been waiting to kiss you," Taehyung whispered, his fingers ghosting over Jungkook's lips.
Jungkook chuckled softly, leaning in until their foreheads touched. "Is that all, baby?" He smirked. "Or were you trying to say something else when you posted... you know...?"
Jungkook pressed forward again, eliminating the space Taehyung had created,
He leaned in, his body pressed against Taehyung's—and that's when he felt it.
Jungkook chuckled, clearly enjoying every second of Taehyung's flustered state. "Then stop denying it."
Taehyung squeezed his eyes shut, his entire body burning. "F-Fine..." he mumbled, burying his face in the crook of Jungkook's neck, his breath warm against his skin. "Let's just—let's go back home."
"Home?" Jungkook whispered as he nipped lightly at the sensitive skin. "Why?"
Jungkook smiled against his skin. "Soon, it'll be our place," he murmured,
Taehyung was so lost in the sensation of Jungkook's kisses, his hazy mind barely registered the question. "What...?"
Taehyung's body tensed as Jungkook pressed even closer. "A f-friend... he's a friend..."
"Really?" Jungkook mused, his teeth grazing Taehyung's ear before biting at his skin.
Taehyung shivered, his lashes fluttering as he tried—failed—to suppress the way his body reacted. "I... I only did it to... match your fucking energy," he let the words out through gritted teeth,
Jungkook let out a low chuckle. "Desperate baby."
"Fuck you," Taehyung shot back, his fingers tightening around Jungkook's shoulders.
Taehyung fought the urge to smile. "Now."
Jungkook bit his lower lip, dragging it between his teeth. "I want you to say it. Tell me what you want."
Taehyung averted his gaze with a pout. "No."
Taehyung's eyes widened. "I—I'm going to jump you!"
"After what?" Jungkook asked, his eyes crinkling as he flashed a smug smile.
Jungkook tilted his head, feigning innocence. "Nuh uh..." He shook his head, his smirk widening. "You need to say it, baby."
Jungkook leaned in, their noses almost touching. "Say it."
"I don't—"
"Say it," Jungkook interrupted.
"You can't—"
"For god's sake—fuck me!" Taehyung finally snapped, yanking Jungkook's hair in frustration. "I want you to fuck me till I can't fucking breathe—till I pass out—are you happy now?!"
Jungkook grinned, his laughter finally dying down as he cupped Taehyung's face, thumbs stroking his warm cheeks. "I'm at your service, babylove."
Taehyung melted instantly, his fingers twisting into Jungkook's shirt as he kissed back with just as much need.
Jungkook's hands slid down his waist, gripping him tightly, pressing their bodies against each other.
Taehyung felt lightheaded, his entire body buzzing, every nerve set on fire just from the way Jungkook was devouring him.
Jungkook groaned as he pulled back, his lips swollen. "Let's go."
Taehyung stumbled slightly but didn't protest, his heart racing as they slipped out of the event hall.
