"choppy price action"
this term is generally thrown around as if there is no edge to be had in sideways markets. There is edge to be had, especially if supported by data.
e.g - knowing the % chance for specific pivots to be taken out, if tested over all conditions can provide you with directional aid.
focus on knowing what your edge truly is so you can sit out when you don't see it and step up when you do.
