It’s not a coincidence that, after years of ignoring or celebrating violence and disruption on college campuses, everyone finally agrees “something must be done” now that students have run up against the most well-funded and best organized interest group in American politics.

It happened in the ‘60s, too. The civil rights and anti-war movements turned against Israel after the ‘67 war. Urban black activists became more brazenly antisemitic - a trend that culminated during the Ocean Hill-Brownsville teachers’ strike - until Jewish organizations mobilized, and that was pretty much the end of the organized civil rights movement.
