Izuku, the magicless sword wielder of the fabled One For All, never...

His journey's only goal is to rid the world of All For One's darkness.
Even if it means breaking a kingdom's tradition... or threatening a dragon king with a proposal.

They don't have the best relationship with other lands, but Izuku thinks that's understandable.
Except Dragon Born are fierce warriors who destroy anyone who tries to steal from their fertile lands.
Nobody's ever succeeded.
"We'll go and ask for the king's help in crossing the plagued waters the League hides behind."
"King Bakugo will never help," Knight Iida says.
Ochaco, their mage, gives Izuku a worried glance. "Izuku, are you sure this is the only way? I could try the gravity spell again-"
So far, Ochaco had been one of the only souls who faced Toga's blood magic and lived.
Despite their wary looks, all follow him into the new land.
Ochaco discovers a new line of spells in a hidden village from an old healer that knew Izuku's mentor, All Might.
Luckily, it seems the people in the Dragon Kingdom look on Todoroki in benevolence. Especially the main village.
He's taken aback by how lively the entire village is, full of vitality and cheerful music between the welcoming ambiance.
And the dragons..."Wow."
The beautiful beasts aren't weapons to the dragon-born. They're members of the village. Equals.
"Commander Sero." Despite his higher rank, Todoroki still bows. Izuku smiles at his friend's lack of care regarding hierarchy.
"Ah, no. I've actually come here at the request of my friend, Midoriya," Todoroki answers. "We'd like a meeting with King Bakugo."
"Dragon King Festival?" Izuku asks, intrigued by the new event.
Iida frowns. "That sounds painful."
"Maybe for King Bakugo." Hanta's answer comes with a grin.
Before he can ask, Hanta snaps his fingers. "Hey, why don't you come tonight as my guests?"
"It's great, hence why they're out with Cellophane delivering goods. So I have a table for your group."
"King Bakugo might promote me for bringing Prince Shoto to blow off some steam with after the event."
Again, the displeasure of the king resonates in Izuku's chest. "Oh, then... sure."
"Thank you," Todoroki bows again.
He's fascinated by how intelligent and independent dragons are, and the noises they use to communicate with their humans.
Plus, their magic's beautiful.
Izuku's a little embarrassed being 'prettied up' by the fashionable Dragon-Born.
He keeps his red shoes and One For All as a comfort.
Izuku enters the decorated green and is blown away. The lavish festival is already in full swing.
What catches his curiosity is the circle of fire in the middle of the green. He itches to know how it burns so evenly, and its meaning.
A few direct their dragons to flap their wings at the fire, but even that barely moves the circle. The goal is maybe smothering the flames-
"Huh?" He follows the prince's pointed finger and connects the dots.
There, sitting higher than the rest of the party, is a man who looks bored. His cheek's pressed to his first, leaning on the throne. And he's... stunning.
Todoroki nods. "His parents left him the kingdom when he turned 21 last year."
"Did his parents..."
Before Ochaco can finish, Mina laughs. "No! Queen Bakugo decided to retire."
But Hanta only shrugs. "She's been ruling since she was sixteen. The Queen got bored, and wanted to enjoy her time with her husband. So she quit."
At Mina's giggle, Izuku has to ask. "Why does the king look upset? Isn't this whole celebration for him?"
Hanta gives Mina a smirk. "Yes and no."
Hanta laughs at their surprise. "That's our king, blunt and stubborn."
Izuku frowns. "But the fire...?"
"Even I have to put in extra mana into my ice to smother it."
And it's Todoroki's comment that stuns Izuku.
King Bakugo isn't just a handsome face with a lucky bloodline; he's powerful, intelligent...
He's perfect for the fight against All For One.
"Oh no." Ochaco grabs his arm. "Izuku, you're not serious, right? The flames are strong enough to burn Todoroki's ice, and you don't have protective magic!"
"Or any magic," the prince says without hesitation.
"We also need you!" She shouts, but he stays gentle when he removes her hand.
"I'll be okay. A hero always finds a way." Then he walks forward, tugging One For All from its sheath on his back as he approaches the blistering flames.
He'll need to switch between mana forms quickly. Closing his eyes, Izuku ignores the murmurs around him and activates his sword. "Float."
Then he jumps.
It's hard to balance two different manas at once, but with death staring him in the face, he manages it. "Blackwhip, defense mode."
"Alright. Here we go." Izuku glances to the king, whose narrowed red eyes look kinda pretty in the inferno's glow. "Float, release."
Heat siphons the air from his lungs, and his pained tears turn to salt in his eyes. Everything hurts, and he feels suffocated.
Muscles scream when he bounces a few times before the build-up is enough. Right when he starts seeing black spots in his vision, his body launches up an out of the flaming prison.
His dismount isn't exactly 'heroic', but that doesn't matter.
"Izuku!" He hears his friends rush over to help him sit up.
"I'm okay," he says despite his wince. "I was only in there for a few seconds."
"What was the point of that?" Iida asks, distraught.
Izuku almost flinches when the man of the hour is suddenly in front of him, arms crossed over an unfairly bare chest. "Oi, what the fuck was that mana? And who the hell are you?"
"I'm...Izuku-"
Even with his arm's pain, Izuku's cheeks warm. "Uh, you're kinda close-"
"Isn't that what your little stunt was for?"
"Hah?" Somehow, the answer only seems to annoy the king more. "First off, why not?"
"Nice?! What's IcyHot lying for-"
"I just don't know anything about you. What you like, or hate, or-" He laughs awkwardly. "Shouldn't I... at least learn your full name?"
"Nice to meet you, Ka-ah..." The intimacy of their current position trips Izuku up, fumbling out. "Kacchan."
"Alright, Deku." Izuku isn't sure if the shiver down his back is from fear or the warm breath that passes alone his lips from Kacchan's sardonic tease. "If you ain't here for marriage, then why'd you jump in Dynamight's flames?"
The mention of the evil sorcerer makes the people of Kacchan's village gasp and murmur in fear.
Kacchan even tenses. "Go on."
"He's spread a plague in the water surrounding his League's base. It kills all who touch it."
"Large and powerful." Kacchan catches on. "You mean Dynamight."
"Not just Dynamight."
"From the stories All Might told me, Dragon Born are the most powerful. Your battle skill and intelligence could change the tides for us."
"Because," Izuku answers. "I stepped in the circle, and you came to me."
"So?"
"Oh." Todoroki blinks. "You completed the tradition. You're courting Midoriya."
"He's right." Mina looks too excited. "Izuku stepped into the circle, and you approached him! That means that you've offered your hand as his mate!"
"Trade? You tricked me!" Kacchan fangs look ready to bite him in half.
"After you help me beat All For One, I'll reject your proposal."
"Or I just blow your head off!"
Finally Kacchan lowers his hands. "I guess."
Ochaco chimes in. "Plus, if you're with us, nobody can plan more marriage festivals, right?"
"Tch."
Todoroki's blunt 'help' makes Izuku sputter, but Kacchan arches a brow at him. "Like that'll happen."
"He may surprise you, King Bakugo." Somehow, Todoroki sounds a little too sure of his claim.
"Uh, y-yes?" He straightens up when Kacchan steps forward and yanks a fang earrings from his lobe.
"Here." Then it's presented to Izuku, who blinks at the offer.
"Raccoon Eyes can make it a necklace, I don't care." Kacchan glares at him. "It'll show people you're mine."
He doesn't know why the comment flushes him, since none of this is real. They're only technically engaged, yet...
When he picks the earring up from the smooth palm, the village cheers. Even his friends join in when Hanta and Mina grab them in hugs and jumps around.
Izuku looks at Kacchan, who only watches him for a second before storming away.
Todoroki pats his head like a proud father. "Good job. Bakugo will be a great asset for us."
"If we can manage his-" Iida pauses at the explosion in the distance. "Terrible temper."
'Well,' he thinks, looking at the jewelry in his hand. 'You'll have the whole quest to make it up to him.'
And maybe now, Izuku has two goals.
