THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: WHEN SCRIPTURE IS USED TO DECEIVE

🚨 A viewer sent me this email after watching my interview with John Ramirez, along with a chart titled “Biblical Basis for Catholic Doctrines.” The chart lists Catholic doctrines alongside Bible verses: Papacy — Matthew 16:13–19; Sacred Tradition — 2 Thessalonians 2:15; Purgatory — 1 Corinthians 3:15, and so on.

At first glance, that looks convincing. But here is the problem: a Scripture reference does NOT prove the doctrine attached to it. Satan himself quoted Scripture to Jesus. The Scripture Satan quoted was real, but the deception was in its application. And how did Jesus answer? “It is also written…” — Matthew 4:7.

That is the test. You do not merely ask, “Did they quote a Bible verse?” You ask: What does the verse actually say? What interpretation has been attached to it? And does that interpretation survive what is ALSO WRITTEN? That is the central test of the booklet: distinguish the biblical text from the later interpretive bridge built around it. Take perhaps the most important example: PAPACY — Matthew 16:13–19. Peter declares, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” — Matthew 16:16. Jesus then says, “Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church…” — Matthew 16:18. But now ask the question religion does not want you to skip: WHERE does Matthew 16 establish a perpetual succession of Roman popes possessing universal authority over Christ’s Church?

It doesn’t. Even granting Peter a unique apostolic role, Matthew 16 does not itself describe the later Roman system of universal papal jurisdiction and supremacy. That requires additional interpretive and historical steps. Peter’s apostolic importance — WRITTEN. A continuing Roman papacy with universal jurisdiction — WHERE IS IT WRITTEN? Now look at PURGATORY — 1 Corinthians 3:15. The verse is real. But where does that verse actually establish the later Catholic doctrine of Purgatory? Again, a biblical verse becomes the starting point, an interpretation is attached to it, the interpretation becomes tradition, and eventually the tradition is presented as though Scripture itself taught the completed doctrine. The booklet specifically distinguishes Christ’s call to holiness from the later developed doctrine of Purgatory. Catholics_Have You Been Deceive…

The same issue appears with SACRED TRADITION — 2 Thessalonians 2:15. Yes, Paul says apostolic teaching was transmitted orally and in writing. That is written. But does that automatically mean doctrines developed centuries later came directly from the apostles simply because an institution eventually calls them “Sacred Tradition”? WHERE IS THAT WRITTEN? Scripture itself warns that human tradition can be elevated to the point that it obscures the Word of God. Catholics_Have You Been Deceive…

This brings us to something even deeper that Christians need to understand:

THE DEVIL HATES YOU.

Why? Because you were made in the image of God. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him.” Humanity bears the image of the very God Satan rebelled against. Jesus also described the enemy as a murderer and the father of lies, while John 10:10 says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”

Because the enemy hates what belongs to God, he wants to separate mankind from God by every means possible. One of the oldest strategies is extraordinarily simple: DIVIDE AND CONQUER. Divide believers, divide the Body of Christ, build walls between people, replace a direct relationship with Jesus with competing systems, institutions, traditions, labels and human authority.

This is why I say: THE DEVIL LOVES RELIGION. HE HATES JESUS. Religion can divide people into countless competing camps while convincing each group that its institution, traditions and interpretations are the ultimate authority. Catholicism is a religion, but it is certainly not the only one. Thousands of religious systems, denominations, sects and traditions exist throughout the world. The more mankind becomes consumed with religious identity instead of Jesus Christ, the more divided the Body becomes.

And understand the distinction: Jesus did not say, “I am one religion among thousands.” He said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — John 14:6. The truth is not a man-made religious system. THE TRUTH IS JESUS.

This is why Christians must understand something critically important: THE DECEIVER KNOWS SCRIPTURE. Matthew 4 proves it. Satan did not need to erase God’s Word; he quoted God’s Word and attempted to misuse it. The booklet makes exactly this point: possession of a Bible verse does not protect an interpretation from deception. The interpretation still has to be tested against the whole counsel of Scripture. And I say this as someone who was RAISED CATHOLIC. This is NOT an attack on Catholics. Many Catholics sincerely love Jesus. This is a challenge to every Catholic—and frankly, EVERY CHRISTIAN—not to believe something merely because a priest, pastor, denomination, church, teacher, institution, or even Bo Polny tells you it is true.

Open your Bible. Test it. Compare Scripture with Scripture. Ask whether what you have been taught actually comes from Jesus and His apostles, or whether an interpretive bridge was gradually constructed and eventually given the authority of Scripture itself. That is the central warning of this booklet. Catholics_Have You Been Deceive…

Jesus gave us the standard: “IT IS WRITTEN.” And when Scripture was being misapplied: “IT IS ALSO WRITTEN.” Nearly 2,000 years of tradition cannot transform a human interpretation into the Word of God.

So the final questions remain simple:

DID JESUS TEACH IT? DID THE APOSTLES TEACH IT? IS IT WRITTEN?
