#wangxian au where wwx (pen name Wei Yuandao) is the author of famous webnovel The Demon of Yiling, but also a broke ass grad student, so he also has a second online persona, mxy, who draws yllz art, which Wei Yuandao himself once said was exactly how he imagined the character 😉

Which means mxy is also pretty famous in the fandom and therefore highly requested for commisions.
It's all going well up until mxy gets a commission for self insert art from Wei Yuandao's biggest fan, lwj.

(cause ofc lwj would want to comission the one artist sanctioned by the author himself, and he'd have done it sooner, but every time mxy opens for commission the slots are taken within minutes, so this is the first time lwj manages to get one)

Anyway, he comissions self insert art in which he's, idk, been captured by the yllz or something, and he sends a full body picture of himself along with the request, for accuracy.
A few chapters later, a new character is introduced in Demon of Yilling: Hanguang jun.

Lwj reading the new chapters: hgj sounds strangely familiar
Wwx, the clown: lwj will never find out hgj is based on him if in the novel the yllz is the one capture by hgj, cause that's like, literally the opposite of his comission
