TW // abuse, injury mention, (human) experimentation mention; general dark themes.

You’ve been looking at the stars for hours. You’d watched them shift and change as the night treads onward—the world is quiet tonight, as if it’s holding it’s breath. Your gaze shifts from the Ursa Major down to the Minor; had they always been in such dazzling star-forms?
3
Part of you wishes they could speak, that they were close enough to touch. Even as you shivered in your jacket, you didn’t shift from your spot in the grass. Styx has his head resting on your leg, and for a painful, fleeting moment you felt a sense of Déjà vu.
4
Your fingers rest lightly in his fur, and you give a small sigh. This night felt familiar, yet you couldn’t quite place why.
5
You lean your head back, taking a deep breath, expecting to be smelling the wet dew on the grass, and the Pokemon nesting for the night in the nearby forest; the pretty flowers that surround you and your roguish companion.
6
Instead—you smell the cold. You smell chemicals, you smell fear—but from what? Whatever the reason, whether it be in your head, imagined by your broken mind; it sends you back, throwing you into a memory you had no idea that you had.
7
. . .
8
It’s freezing. You can’t move the right side of your face—it hurts, so much. You can’t see a damn thing, and you feel such fear…
9
Misery and pain seems to have sunk into the very walls of this terrible place, and you’re unsure of where you are.
10
It takes a little bit for your eyes to adjust to the near pitch-black, but after it does, you realize there are 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴: prisoners and the punished, those that dare step out of line.
11
Not just people—Pokemon, too. You look to your left; there’s a small Houndour puppy. At least, you think that’s what the Pokemon is called. Your vision is blurry and your thoughts even more so; everything is mush.
12
It’s whimpering, you reach out for it—stretching your fingers through the cage bars. Immediately the canine leaps up, trying to scramble away from you. But there’s not enough room to hide—any room to hide. . .
13
A few minutes pass, you don’t move your hand. But you do continue looking around.
14
There’s nothing with you in your cage. Wait—nothing except one singular Pokeball. It’s weird, it’s white, and it has nothing inside it.
15
Did 𝘺𝘰𝘶 have a Pokemon, too? Your fingers trace over the white shell, wondering. The Pokeballs’ presence seems to calm you down momentarily. You’re not alone here, not if you’ve got a Pokemon. But then—where IS your Pokemon?
16
Soft fur brushes against your fingers and you jump—the Houndour’s moved closer now. Comfort. A kind hand in a world full of mean, scary ones.
17
You take to whispering to the pup, talking to it to keep you sane. Panicked whispers from the other captives reach your ears, but they’re all too quiet to be heard. Not a single one notices you, it’s as if you don’t exist at all.
18
Maybe you don’t.
19
An eerie, pained dog-like howl shuts you up very fast. As does everyone else. 𝘛𝘏𝘌𝘠’𝘙𝘌 𝘊𝘖𝘔𝘐𝘕𝘎, one panicked collective thought, bouncing around the room; unspoken.
20
But who was ‘they’?
21
Light floods the large room, and then a couple of shouts, but you’re too preoccupied with covering your one remaining eye to hear what they’re saying. The slamming of a cage door and then a quiet wail—followed by another shout.
22
𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘎𝘩𝘦𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘴𝘩𝘶𝘵, spoken with such venom… A shiver runs down your spine. Even as a child, you understand this man is BAD.
23
His voice spells danger, contempt and disgust running off every word he speaks.
24
You whimper, Seafoam hues glittering cold fear. Your mouth is as dry as the desert, as is your eyes. You have no tears left to cry, and as you shift, you resist the urge to yelp in pain, realizing—your ankle. It’s all wrapped up, you’re unable to move it. 𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯. How?
25
You can’t remember ANYTHING . . .
26
The door slams shut again, blocking out all of the light except for one small panel in the ceiling above your head; a few stars peek through, shining their bedazzling light onto you and the others in the room with you.
27
You all share one fate, one destiny… and the stars will watch it all.
