🚨 BREAKING: Gmail Users Need to Know This!

If you use Gmail, pay attention to this.

Google’s AI is reportedly scanning your inbox and attachments, including bank statements, tax documents, medical letters, and more. The feature was turned on by default, and its rollout is now facing a class-action lawsuit.

Here are 5 steps to disable it, because the settings you need are hidden in two separate places:

1. The Primary Toggle

This is the main setting Google highlights, but it’s not the only one you need to check.

Gmail (Desktop):

⚙️ Settings → See all settings → Smart features and personalization → Turn off “Smart features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet” → Save Changes.
3
2. The Second Toggle

Turning off the first option isn’t enough. Most people stop there and miss this step.

Stay on the same settings page: Google Workspace smart features → Manage Workspace smart feature settings → Turn off both checkboxes → Save.

Make sure both options are disabled.

3. Check Your Phone

These settings may not sync across all your devices, so make sure to check the Gmail app separately.

Gmail app → Menu (☰) → Settings → Choose your account → Disable “Smart features and personalization” → Confirm.

4. Clear Your Gemini History

If you’ve used Gemini before, your conversations may be stored, and some could be reviewed by human reviewers.

Go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini → Turn off Gemini Apps Activity → Delete Activity → All Time.

This removes your past Gemini activity and helps stop future activity from being saved.

5. Keep Sensitive Emails Separate

Turning off Gmail’s smart features is a good first step, but for stronger privacy, consider using a separate email provider.

For medical, legal, or financial information, consider opening a free Proton Mail account. It offers end-to-end encryption and is built with privacy as a priority.

Use Gmail for everyday messages, newsletters, promotions, and other less-sensitive emails.
