Scripture calls us to readiness without date setting because the church is gathered before the tribulation and Christ returns in His appointed time.

Show the exact Scripture that says:
“DATE SETTING IS FORBIDDEN.”
Not church tradition.
Not a theological system.
Not an interpretation.
The actual verse.
And if you quote Matthew 24:36 — “But of that day and hour knoweth no man…” — then quote what it actually says.
It does NOT say, “Do not study prophetic timing.”
It does NOT say, “Do not examine signs, seasons, days, or years.”
And it does NOT literally say, “Date setting is forbidden.”
That is an interpretation being presented as though it were the text of Scripture.

Matthew 24:36 speaks to the Father’s authority over the day and hour, not a license to claim certainty about dates. Studying the signs can be faithful, but presenting a timetable as settled revelation risks turning watchfulness into presumption.

It’s interesting that you reference Matthew 24:36. But have you ever stopped to consider exactly what Jesus was saying—and the Jewish context in which He was saying it?
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man…”
Jesus was speaking to His disciples nearly 2,000 years ago, before satellites and telescopes. Yet Scripture also tells believers to watch, recognize the signs, and pay attention to what is happening in the heavens.
Now consider Rosh Hashanah / Yom Teruah—the Feast of Trumpets. Its timing is connected to the biblical lunar calendar and the new moon, and it is often described in prophecy teaching as the “hidden feast.” Why? Because its beginning depended on the sighting of the new moon, making the precise onset less straightforward than a fixed solar-calendar date.
And then consider again Jesus’ words:
“But of that day and hour knoweth no man…”
Within this interpretation, the Feast of Trumpets is what Jesus was alluding to when He used that language regarding His return. That is exactly why Matthew 24:36 should not automatically be turned into a blanket statement that prophetic timing can never be studied.
The pattern becomes even more fascinating when we consider the feasts themselves. Christians commonly understand the spring feasts in relation to Christ’s first coming, death, resurrection, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. So what about the fall feasts and their prophetic significance?
This is why dismissing calculations before examining them misses the entire point.
Study the signs. Study the calendars. Study the feasts. Study the calculations. Study the wording.
Remember, Kim Clement declared:
“We are the generation that shall defy death.”
And I believe we can both agree that Kim’s word will prove true.
One thing remains undeniable: Matthew 24:36 does not literally say, “Do not study the signs. Do not examine the times. Do not calculate.”
So instead of using that verse to close the investigation, perhaps we should use it as a reason to study time more deeply.
