Only 173k viewers for the first episode of 2026 WSOP on ESPN. Ranking in as the 119th most watched thing on TV.

More people watched Press Your Luck on GSN, Squatters on AE, Ms. Pat Settles It BET, reruns of Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, Family Guy...

I don't think this episode was the highest watched poker event in 2026.

I've screaming it for years. ESPN isn't the answer. Its not the thing it once was and hell neither is poker.

They built a massive game show set and mad it so prohibitively expensive to stream that they can only do it for few events. Only to be shown to an audience of 170k.

The episodes were great BTW. Its not a knock on the talent. But making 2005 content in 2026 is just lighting money on fire. A flying camera rig and massive LED screens isn't need for poker and audience of 170k.

You could of built a bigger audience online with all the stars who won this year or went deep, yet couldn't show it because of a high roller or too expensive to stream.
There was so much content that could of been made by the few stars of the game today that was flat out missed.
Too expensive to stream isn't an excuse when youre producing the 119th ranked show on TV. If a card room from bumfuck Ohio figured it out, the premier tour should have just for content alone.
