A woman just had one of these people turn up at her door DEMANDING...

These clowns don’t even work for the BBC.
They’re Capita contractors behalf of TV Licensing not the BBC itself.
They have ZERO legal power to come into your house, force you to talk, or demand anything.
Just say “No thank you” and slam the door.
Biggest con in the UK. Don’t engage.
Know your rights. If you don’t wish to engage, a polite “No thank you” and closing the door is enough.
They prey on people who don’t know their rights.
Don’t be one of them.
Share this so more people know what to do when these contractors come knocking.
Everyone should know this.
Capita contractors using intimidation tactics at the door is state propaganda in action. They can’t force anything they have ABSOLUTELY no rights whatsoever. Don’t let them bamboozle you that’s how they get in!
Instead of leaving, he stays planted there and starts threatening her with prosecution.
No evidence shown. No proof she’s done anything wrong. Just the assumption that because there’s no licence on file, she must be guilty.
This isn’t enforcement. It’s intimidation.
TV Licensing’s own rules say officers should leave when asked unless they have a search warrant. Once you withdraw permission for them to be on your property, staying there can cross into civil trespass. And prosecution isn’t supposed to happen on suspicion alone they actually need evidence that someone has been watching or recording live TV or using iPlayer.
His tone, his persistence, and that presumption of guilt were completely out of order.
These heavy-handed doorstep tactics from Capita on behalf of the BBC are wearing thin. People have rights, even if they don’t pay the licence fee.
Has anyone else had one of these visits turn nasty? What happened?
