I’ve never “been complicit in killing children.”

In 2014-2015 I did some contract illustrations for Boeing. Color drawings of concept hardware for internal use. Military-adjacent, yes, and it was the main reason I left the industry. ⬇️

From 2016-2021 I was employed as an architectural designer for a Texas design-build firm. I drew up houses & offices for clients largely in the oil sector, many of them nearly-wealthy boomer assholes. They were paying for building plans though, so I did my $15/hr job and tried to make it work.

The firm I worked for started going after redevelopment projects around the same time I began making Mystery Flesh Pit content, 2019. Air B&Bs, condos, Truffle Burger shops, etc, all on downtown land formerly occupied by historically lower-income housing blocks.

It sucked, I started looking for a different job weeks before the lockdowns began in 2020. Mystery Flesh Pit became the bucket for all of my anxiety and frustration and was like a relief valve. People enjoyed it and engaged with it.

In 2021 I was able to quit my job and make it on steady illustration work. I’ve made illustrations for city improvement projects, I’ve done pro-bono graphics for nonprofits, and I’ve been lucky to have great commercial clients in the entertainment sector.

I was stupid to use AI for that July 4th post, and I’ve been a jackass about it since; lots of uncalled-for melodrama on my part. Edgy teenager shit full of ego and spite. I’m sorry to those who looked up to me as an artist or associated themselves with my work. Sorry for being a whiny bitch when I was called out.

I’m going to keep working on projects the way I have, with Paper and Pencil and SketchUp and Photoshop. Not trying to win anyone over, just felt sort of awful about this whole business and wanted to clear the air and apologize.
