its fascinating that we have granted the uncriticized revival of film bro indie movies. thinking of ntbtstm, hundreds of beavers, etc. seems audiences love em and i havent seen any critical conversations around this when there used to be more pushback

for clarity, its not just the movies i'm referring to but also the culture surrounding them. partying with these guys is fun but its 100% frat boy vibes. i am saying nothing about the quality of the movies, just the current film culture discourse and general industry vibe.

also not saying this culture itself is inherently bad; I personally think its fine because I think that women also enjoy partying and i hate the industry aiming for sanitization alongside diversity, instead of allowing diverse voices to also engage with fun shit!

the film industry becoming a boys club again* isn’t good. i think its unfortunate we dont have the same film culture that held that to account around anymore.

*it didnt stop being one but we at least were trying to expand the ranks for a few years there
