Chapter One: Addressing The Melanie Martinez And Timothy Heller Statements
On 12/04/2017, Timothy Heller accused former friend Melanie Martinez of sexual assault during a two-night sleepover they had on 2015. Pause and read.
Source [Broken Link]: x.com/timethyheller/…
Timothy doubles down on this point stating that some of her alleged abuser fans became her fans, but eventually they stopped supporting Timothy. So not only this person is famous, but also they share interests or careers similar enough for them to share the same fanbases.
Also please don't send hate to Abigail Breslin as the only reason I mentioned her is to get my point across better. I'm not going to mention her again expect for a specific point that I'm going to bring up way later on so put a pin on that. Side note over, let's continue.
The point that I'm trying to make is that people could had identify Melanie as Timothy's alleged abuser in her letter without the need of explicitly naming Melanie. All it would have taken is a little effort & being capable enough to pick-up the context clues in her post.
Jared never came forward defending himself against the accusations made by Timothy so either he's not aware that he was accused of mental abuse or he is aware and decided to stay silent. Needless to say: Do not send any hate to Jared either.
Source: atwoodmagazine.com/th-sleep-timot…
If Timothy's true intentions were to not named her alleged abuser (or at least make it less easy for people to not identify her alleged abuser) she would have opted to use gender neutral pronouns instead. But people have bigger/more important observations than all of this.
#MeToo was never meant to be used as a tool/instrument to accuse others. If you read #MeToo stories from other people before and after 2017 you will notice that their posts are lived personal experiences to help other women and were never meant to be taken as accusations.
Timothy being a mental health supporter and an advocate for sexual assault survivors should had known the difference between sharing an alleged lived personal experience of abuse and openly accusing a person and justifying it by utilizing real #MeToo stories posted online.
For some people (including real survivors of sexual assault & violence) this is enough reason to doubt Timothy's real intentions of posting her letter, and other eyebrow-raising behavior that we will discuss later. But for now, we are going to address Melanie's statements.
In the late hours of 12/04/2017 Melanie released her first official statement denying Timothy's accusations. Melanie's response (11:37PM PST) was posted roughly six hours later after Timothy's post (5:56PM PST).
Pause and read.

Before analyzing both Melanie & Timothy's statements I need to be really clear: It's not out of place for me to say that both statements were poorly written and most of these controversies could had been avoided if the two of them had taken more time to write them properly
I understand that both of them have anxiety and difficulty asserting themselves but it comes to a point when you need to be more assertive while addressing these serious topics if you don't want people to take your words out of context and painting a picture that is false.
This is a tip for everyone reading this: If you are accused of a crime you didn't commit, your common sense & judgement are your best allies. Don't rush a statement that people will take out of context no matter how well written it is and consult a legal team if necessary.
Now, "she never said no to what we chose to do together" is a poorly written statement and it should be called out. A 22-year-old woman should had known better and not address these serious accusations like this. However, a poorly written post is not an admission of guilt.
I'm aware of the implications behind the phrase "she never said no" and its negative connotations surrounding it. However, Melanie was not using the phrase in that way and she was not contributing to rape culture by using it. Context is key and understanding is everything.
"She never said no to what we chose to do together" was a direct response to Timothy's letter where she stated that she repeatedly said no to the idea of having sex. The verb “chose” expresses consent as it was a choice between them. Melanie was just denying her statement.
If person A says: "I was sexually assaulted by person B, I repeatedly said no to the idea of having sex" and person B says: "That's not true, she never said no to what we chose to do together" is an odd yet understandable response. Her wording was awful but awful ≠ guilty
If Melanie had worded her post differently people would still attack her. For example, if Melanie said "she said yes to what we chose to do together" people would have quoted the part in Timothy's post that read "I never said yes. I said no, repeatedly" and call her a liar
Decontextualizing someone's words and then using it against them is a bad argument. If you explain to someone in the clearest & earnest way possible the meaning of something but they keep doubling down and counter-acting the impossible, the fault lands on them, not on you.
Melanie isn't saying that she took advantage of Timothy because she "never said no," Melanie is stating that their encounter was consensual because, contrary to Timothy's letter, she didn't object to the sexual activities they chose to do together. A choice requires agency
They had consensual sex. Now, why was Melanie's statement so ambiguous? To my understanding, it may had been written that way to dissuade people from reading Timothy's letter. But also remember that Melanie didn't identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community back in Dec, 2017.
Melanie Martinez released a second official statement on December 9th, 2017 where she reaffirms her innocence expressed on her previous letter by stating "I would never be intimate with someone without their absolute consent."
Source [Broken Link]: x.com/melanielbbh/st…
Because the quote "I would never be intimate with someone without their absolute consent" doesn't help them push this narrative of Melanie being a self-admitted rapist. Melanie stated that they engaged in consensual sex but never stated a specific date. Put a pin on that.
Now, we have encountered a dilemma. We have two people that had posted very poorly written statements that are diametrically opposed to one another & completely contradict each other. How can we determine who is telling the truth and who is lying? Where do we go from here?
But you can't support them both because that's a middle ground fallacy: Both of them can't be telling the truth at the same time. Because SA is a predetermined/intentional act of violence: You can't accidentally SA someone. An intention is a deliberate act, not an accident
One of the points used against my older thread is to mention the misguided belief that only 1 out of 200 SA cases are false. I understand the concerns and I'm going to address this. The goal of this chapter is to recontextualize this argument from an ethical point of view.
First, we need to know if the data comes from a reputable source. The debate that only 0.5% cases of SA are false comes from a 2010 study titled "Rape: Too Hard To Report And Too Easy To Discredit Victims" published by criminologist Joanne Belknap:
journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/10…
Lisak and his team concluded that 8 out of 136 cases had sufficient ground to be qualified as false accusations (roughly 5.9%). The study took into account older research which indicated that the prevalence of false SA accusations is between 2%-10%.
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21164210/
If Lisak said that 5% or 1 out of 20 reported cases of SA are false, then why did Belknap said that 0.5% or 1 out of 200 reported cases of SA are false? That's because Belknap took into account the percentage of SA cases that are never reported/notified to the authorities.
Belknap said that because 90% of SA cases are never reported to the police, the total amount of rape cases (including those reported and not reported to the police) consists of 99.5% real cases and 0.5% false cases. So, is it accurate to say Belknap is a reputable source?
The short answer is "yes." But the long answer is way more complicated. The problem arises when you realize that the determinant factors that decide the percentage of false SA accusations change depending on your source. That is where the margin of error comes into place.
The determinant factors that decide the percentage of false SA cases include the prevalence of false SA cases, the percentage of SA cases that aren't reported to the police, the sample size, the time period, the time frame in which the study took place and other variables.
Joanne Belknap concluded that 1 out of 200 SA cases are false based on a study in which the determinant factors used were: A 5% prevalence of false SA cases, a sample size of 136 cases over a 10-year period & a 90% percentage of SA cases that aren't reported to the police.
In contrast, a 2018 article published by CNN: "Trump Says It's A 'Scary Time' For Men. Here Are The Stats On False Sexual Assault Claims," The National Sexual Violence Resource Center states that the prevalence of false SA cases is between 2% & 10%.
edition.cnn.com/2018/10/03/hea…
In a study of SA cases reported to the LA Police Department in 2008, researchers found that the rate of false reports was 4.5% (Spohn, White, & Tellis, 2014). "What Percentage Of Rape Reports Are False?" by End Violence Against Woman International:
evawintl.org/best_practice_…
In a multi-site study of 8 U.S. communities made by the Making A Difference Project, 140 out of 2,059 SA cases reported in a 18-24 month period were classified as false (roughly 7%).
The National Center for the Prosecution of Violence Against Women:
nsvrc.org/publications/a…
To give a summary before continuing, we can determine that the prevalence of false SA accusations depends on the sources used:
• CNN (2018) & NSVRC (2012): Between 2% & 10%
• LAPD (2008): 4.5%
• Lisak (2010): 5%
• NCPVAW (2009) & Making A Difference Project (2009): 7%
The range between 2%-8% obtained from London Metropolitan University aligns with the range between 2%-10% reported by The NSVRC.
"Home Office Research Study 293: A Gap Or A Chasm? Attrition In Reported Rape Cases" by London Metropolitan University
researchgate.net/publication/23…
Going down from 10% to 2% is a decrease of 8 percent points or an 80-percent decrease and moving up from 2% to 10% is an increase of 8 percent points or a 400-percent increase. These numbers can't be ignored. They reflect a real problem in the prevalence of false SA cases.
Subdivisions for the unfounded category
False Report: A reported crime to law enforcement that an investigation factually proves never occurred.
Baseless Report: One in which it's determined that the incident doesn't meet the elements of the crime but is presumed truthful.
Not all cases of false reports are attributed to malicious intentions, as there has been instances of improper documentation & mistaken identification in some incidents. A report can only be classified as a false report once a proper investigation/study has been concluded.
None of the five studies I cited earlier took into account SA accusations made on social media, only crime data that has been voluntarily submitted to the police & law enforcement. To say that these organizations also study SA accusations posted online is a great mistake.
Police department/law enforcement don't investigate SA accusations posted on social media because their priority is to process SA accusations that are already reported in their agencies. Investing police time/resources in SA accusations posted online is counterproductive.
Sexual assault & rape accusations posted on social media don't have journalists to verify the accuracy of the information that is being posted. These types of accusations don't need to meet any of the requirements or criteria used in the police department/law enforcement.
He added: "The power of any lie is equal only to our desire to believe it. [...] Specifically, our need and eagerness to believe it. This is the problem with belief, which is accepting something as true or correct without proof."
40 Percent, AP News
apnews.com/article/b5c40b…
Once explained the prevalence of false SA cases, we can now define the percentage of all rape cases that are never reported to the police. The NSVRC states that 63% of sexual assaults are not reported to the police.
Statistic About Sexual Violence:
nsvrc.org/sites/default/…
The University Of Massachusetts Amherst estimates that the percentage of all rape cases (including attempted rapes) that are never reported to the police varies between 60% and 90% percent.
Sexual Assault, Rape Prevention, Reporting, And Counseling:
umass.edu/umpd/sexual-as…
If you calculate the percentage of false SA cases based on the lowest rate in the prevalence of false SA cases (2%) and the highest rate in the percentage of SA cases that are never reported to the police (90%) the answer is 0.2% (one out of 500 SA cases are false reports)
If you calculate the percentage of false SA cases based on the highest rate in the prevalence of false SA cases (10%) & the lowest rate in the percentage of SA cases that are never reported to the police (60%) the answer is 4% (twenty out of 500 SA cases are false reports)
If someone picks 500 SA cases at random 19 SA cases will fall under the margin of error. And this result is only obtained by taking the numbers at face value. We haven't addressed societal issues as minority groups are more likely to be accused of crimes they didn't commit
"[Rule utilitarians] don't reject concepts like justice, rights, and desert. Instead, they accept and use these concepts but interpret them from the perspective of maximizing utility." He then mentions the problems of wrongful convictions, as it poses a challenge to them:
He concludes that both Act & Rule utilitarians build their morality by setting a relationship between their moral code & moral perspective (how their actions impact others).
Excerpts retrieved from "Act And Rule Utilitarianism" by Stephen Nathanson:
iep.utm.edu/util-a-r/#H6
Rape cases go beyond numbers and statistics. A thorough analysis of each and every single case is the only way to guarantee the well-being of everyone involved. To dismiss all cases as "there is no need to investigate because 99.5% are telling the truth" is irresponsible.
On December 5th, 2017, the day after she posted her statement, Timothy did an exclusive interview with Newsweek addressing the allegations. The article was written by Emily Gaudette. Read the interview in full before continuing this thread.
Archive: web.archive.org/web/2017050100…
This is the (alleged) timeline of events presented by Timothy in the article:
• The night of June 24th, 2015: The night of the first sleepover.
• The night of June 25th, 2015: The night of the second sleepover.
• The day of June 26th, 2015: The day after the sleepover.
This part is important: I am going to provide context as to why the dates presented on the Newsweek article were June 24th-June 25th and not June 25th-June 26th. The article describes June 25th as: "[The night in question when] Martinez pressured her into sexual contact."
In Timothy's original statement the alleged abuse happened on the second night of the sleepover and not on the first night. The article states that Melanie pressured Timothy into sexual contact on June 25, making June 24-June 25 the more accurately depicted/portrayed dates
Because if June 25 and June 26 were the dates actually presented, that would contradict Timothy's own timeline of events by describing the first night of the sleepover (in this hypothetical case being June 25) as the night of the alleged abuse instead of the second night.
In either case the sleepover did not start on neither June 24th or June 25th. Melanie and Timothy actually meet on June 26th. This claim is backed up by Timothy's iCloud and social media posts which we will look over later. Let's go back into discussing Timothy's evidence.
This is supposed to be a never seen before pic but you can find a reupload from February 2017. That's because Timothy liked to take Snapchat stories when she used to spend time with Melanie.
Note: The caption from the post has been edited.

The photo of Melanie in handcuffs was taken on May 6th, 2015. Then it was uploaded by Timothy via Snapchat and later saved online. Video proof of allsoulsineachpart's IG post confirming that the photo was uploaded on February 2017:

The game was bought in a thrift store but there isn't a solid answer on who had the idea of buying/playing the game since on the Newsweek article Timothy said it was Melanie's idea while on another interview Timothy said it was her own idea

Photo comparisons between Timothy's camera roll & The Valentine's Day Lover's Kit Box Set made by a fan:
Archive: web.archive.org/web/2020061500…
In her letter, she said that the incident happened while she was trying to sleep in bed and the game was not mentioned/referenced. In the article, she said that the incident happened while they were both awake playing the game and not while she was trying to sleep in bed.
The kit was an unnecessary detail that she added in her story & try to make it more believable but the result was the opposite. Her accusation went from "I was abused while I was pretending to be asleep in bed" to "I was abused while we were awake playing a 2-player kit."
I also found a Melanie fan page on Twitter that also posted the May 6th, 2015 photo on their feed. Keep in mind that this person lives in Brazil and the time zones are different from The United States.

Melanie was on tour at the time. The tour ended on June 21st, 2015 but she stayed in New York for a couple of days because she was born in NYC and probably visited some relatives after the tour ended. Here's a video of her performing at The Webster Hall on June 21st, 2015
Timothy & Melanie had several sleepovers over 2015. Melanie couldn't have possibly known which sleepover Timothy was referring to because Timothy, intentionally or not, combined different aspects/details from all their sleepovers and tried to present it as one sleepover.
On December 8th, 2017 Timothy Heller did an Instagram live addressing the dates and other contradictions:
Source: timothyheller on Instagram
"BMI partnered with the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation to present a special performance by Atlantic recording artist Melanie Martinez at the organization's 40th annual Gracies Awards Luncheon, recently held (6/22) at the NY Hilton Midtown."

To end this section: When Timothy was asked in an interview about Melanie's hair color during the sleepover she gave a contradictory response. This is most likely because people can have a better understanding of the timeline of events by knowing Melanie's real hair color
Quote: Idk if I'm gonna regret posting this but I thought this might clear some things up. I start this video out showing that my iCloud photo is clearly fucked up. The pictures of me in the green wig are clearly not from 2011. The picture from that night then says May 6.
For example, you can see in the video that she has a pic of a party saved on 06/24/2015. The party happened on June 21st. Since Timothy's iPhone did not took the pic, June 24th is the day that the pic was automatically saved by her iCloud.

Either the photo was sent to Timothy or she herself saved the pic by screenshotting the post on June 24th. Video proof of Rob Sheridan's Instagram post, confirming that the photo at the pool party was originally taken on June 21st, 2015:

Trigger Warning: Consumption of cannabis and date-rape drugs
The next portion of the thread will go into detail about the consumption of cannabis and the role of marijuana in sexual assault. Reader discretion is advised. I will not go into explicit details but stay safe.
If you don't feel comfortable reading this part or you're in a bad mental health space I understand. You can skip to 143/300 which covers the next chapter: The timeline of events. It's not necessary for you to read this part if you don't want to, it's just to add context.
Disclaimer: While there are several scientific studies with different methodologies used that either support or dismiss the idea that cannabis should be consider a date-rape drug, this section of the thread was not made with the intention of giving a solid answer to this.
On November 25th, 2015 andPOP did an interview with Melanie where they talk about her childhood and other topics. The original video has been deleted, but luckily someone reuploaded the interview on YouTube.

When asked about the first time she smoked weed Melanie answered with the following: "I was with my friend in her boyfriend's room and she had like, a bong in his room. And I was like 'I don't know.' And I just smoked weed. I just tried it and I never had tried it before"
Fans argue that Timothy was the friend Melanie was referring to during the interview because of these old Vine videos. Timothy was also wearing the Mickey hat that she wore when they went to Disney Land together. This is just an observation & shouldn't be taken as a fact.
Chapter Four: The General Timeline Of Events
Trigger Warning: Sexual Trauma
This portion of the thread will go into detail with the timeline of events and may not be suitable for all readers. Reader discretion is advised. I will not go into explicit details but stay safe.
If you don't feel comfortable reading this section I understand. You can skip to 180/300 which will cover the next chapter: Addressing the incident of November 16th, 2017. It's not necessary for you to read this section if you don't want to, it's just to add more context.
Timothy & Melanie became friends around early 2014, a couple of months before The Dollhouse Tour started where Timothy's former band "Dresses" played as the opening act. The tour went from June 4th, 2014 to June 24th, 2014.

Melanie stopped being friends with Timothy in either late 2016 or early 2017 following the advice of her personal healer/psychic called Raven. They allegedly told Melanie that she needed to cut people out of her life and focus on her career
Source: x.com/MelanieLBBH/st…
Due to conflicting reports, we don't have a specific date when they stopped being friends but the most likely explanation is that it happened in early 2017. You can see Timothy's Curious Cat confirming that they were still friends in 2017.
Archive: web.archive.org/web/2017050100…
We will address some of the possibilities on when did the friendship ended with its implications and interpretations later so put a pin on that. But for now, we are going to rely on Timothy's posts from Jan. 2017 in which she stated that she was still friends with Melanie
The reason why Timothy lied about stop being friends with Melanie in 2016 was not because of trauma but because by telling people she stopped being friends with Melanie for years and distancing herself from Melanie she attempted to make her statements seem more believable
People will attack you for pointing this out. But please keep in mind that unlike most cases of abuse or violence, Melanie had no power over Timothy. There were no power imbalance/power dynamics in their relationship. Melanie had neither control or possession over Timothy
Timothy & Melanie were on speaking terms up until September of 2017, just months before Timothy released her statements. I won't go into further detail out of respect but please remember that staying friends with people who abused you doesn't make you guilty by any means.
And again please don't misinterpret it or twist it: This section is just the timeline of events. Timothy didn't lie about their friendship. She stated that they remained friends in 2015 which is true. But she also stated that the friendship ended in 2016 and that's false.
What Timothy was referring to in her IG post was this video of them singing together. We can tell by Melanie's dress and make-up that this video was likely filmed the day of June 26th, 2015 because that was the day Timothy and Melanie meet-up after The Cry Baby Tour ended

One of Timothy's in real life friends also corroborated her November 16th, 2017 story. This person is not a public figure and for safety purposes I'm going to refer to them as "Blue Shirt." Respect this person's privacy and don't try to contact them or reach out to them.
But we will come to learn that Blue Shirt isn't a reliable source. Just to be clear: I'm not saying that they're lying or that they're not being honest. I'm stating that their statements are solely their perspective / interpretation of the events that occurred that night.
Just like Timothy's recounting of events during her sleepover with Melanie, Blue Shirt's recollection of events can't be perceived as one-hundred percent accurate. That's because a testimony coming explicitly from memory can be misconstrued (i.e., reconstructive memory).
Unlike Timothy, who purposely lied and gave the wrong date of the alleged assault while having presumed documented evidence on her possession which provided her with the real date of the sleepover, Blue Shirt gave a wrong answer because they were recalling it from memory.
With "presumed documented evidence," I'm referring to possible text messages, social media posts and archives. If Timothy's claims that her iCloud was messed up were true (which it wasn't), she could had relied on other alternatives to give an accurate date of the events.
But that doesn't mean Blue Shirt is purposely lying, it just means that they are not a reliable source. Neither Timothy, Timothy's boyfriend at the time, Blue Shirt or Newsweek had publicly showed or released the alleged phone recordings or the presumed texts Melanie sent
This has led to people coming up with theories such as:
• The entire incident was a hoax, the phone call and texts never happened, and Blue Shirt is lying on her behalf.
• The phone call did in fact happened but Blue Shirt was never present at the time of the events.
• Timothy lied and staged an incident to make it look like Melanie was trying to get in contact with her unbeknownst to Blue Shirt so she could later use their testimony as alibi.
• The event occurred but the reason why the phone recordings are private is still unknown.
Note: Go rewatch the video from tweet 122/250 before continuing. Also, for clarity purposes, Melanie's personal healer and Melanie's psychic are the same person. The terms "healer" & "psychic" are used interchangeably throughout the interview and other social media posts.
Timothy expressed on Newsweek that Melanie reached out to her on Nov. 16 as a result of Melanie dreaming about Timothy. But on the interview that she did on 12/09/2017, she stated that Melanie reached out to her as a result of reading the tweets that she posted on Nov. 16
Melanie's psychic was also mentioned on the alleged text messages Timothy received on Oct 2016 after Melanie unfollowed Timothy on social media. The term "social media" is used in a broader sense on the 12/09/2017 interview, since no social media app was mentioned by name
Due to conflicting reports it's unclear who reached out to whom as a result of Melanie unfollowing her on social media. Oddly enough, I found a video from a fan proving that Melanie was still following "Dresses The Band" (but not Timothy herself) on IG around Nov. of 2018
Without the intention of sounding condescending, I also need to point out that the alleged text messages from October of 2016 (just like the text messages and the phone recordings from November 16th, 2017) have not been publicly released for reasons that are still unknown
Timothy stated that after Melanie unfollowed her on social media and after having a long conversation with her via text messages that those were the main reasons why their friendship ended on October of 2016, regardless, there are opposing statements that contradict this.
Returning to Timothy's recounting of events from 11/06/2017, Timothy claimed that Melanie tried to contact her 20 mins. after posting her tweets. This is unlikely because Melanie is not a social media person and she is known for taking months-long breaks from the internet
And on December 2nd 2017, two days before posting her statement, Timothy tweeted the following: "I have enough friends and you are NOT ONE, AND NEVER ACTED LIKE ONE EITHER." It has been speculated that this tweet was referring to Melanie.
Archive: web.archive.org/web/2017090100…
All of these explanations are purely speculations and should not be taken as a fact. Unfortunately, we don't have a definite answer as to what really happened on the night of 11/16/2017. The only thing we can do is make a good judgement and don't rely on people's biases.
I want to end this chapter by highlighting the importance of media literacy: While addressing topics like this it is essential to be a conscientious person and be critical with the media/content we consume. The next tweet are the sources that I used on my previous tweets.
Misconception #1: "Timothy Heller had no initial support when she came out with her statement."
The #MelanieMartinezIsOverParty was trending worldwide at #1 with over 1.2 million tweets with people burning Melanie's merchandise and sending her death threats/rape threats.
Misconception #2: "No news media covered the allegations when they surfaced."
Multiple news media covered the topic back in 2017 such as CNN and CBS. Just to give a quick example, you can watch a Billboard video addressing the subject matter here:
youtu.be/ZH6EVNZA8e0
Misconception #3: "Melanie deleted her original statement so that counts as an admission of guilt / confession."
Melanie had a bot which deletes all of her tweets one year later after being posted. Circleboom is a Twitter bot for example.
Archive: web.archive.org/web/2023100100…
Misconception #4: "Melanie took advantage of Timothy because of her age."
Timothy is older than Melanie. Timothy was born on August 17th, 1992 (32 years old) and Melanie was born on April 28th, 1995 (30 years old). They met when Timothy was 22 and Melanie was 20 in 2014.
Misconception #7: "Timothy copied her story from a sexual assault survivor."
Timothy denied the rumors on a TikTok video that you can find on Misconception #20. Here's the story which was posted on Jan. of 2013. Be cautious and be safe 🧡

Timothy was aware that Miles knew that Melanie had feelings for her. Both Melanie & Timothy had prior dialogues about having sex before engaging in a sexual activity together, this could very well indicate that their encounter during the sleepover was planned/consensual.
She changes her answer after noticing that her remark would've made people realized that she & Melanie had already talked about having sex prior to their sleepover. The only way for Timothy to know that Miles wouldn't care about it is if Miles had become aware beforehand.
Misconception #9: "Globelamp, who was former friends with Timothy, came forward and exposed Timothy as a liar."
On September of 2020 Elizabeth Gomez posted a series of stories on her IG page denouncing Timothy. But take her statements with a grain of salt. Pause to read.
Part two of Globelamp Instagram stories. Pause to read.

She has also publicly denounced Timothy Heller on Twitter. But I personally believe these statements were not made to spread awareness, but were made in an attempt to save her reputation / public image.

Misconception #10: "Timothy compared being sexually assaulted to being stabbed."
Timothy's friend Eve was the one who made the insensitive comments, not Timothy. They stopped being friends after it was revealed that Eve was in a groupchat being inappropriate with minors.
Proof of Eve sending scantily clad pictures of herself to minors. Some sources state that she was born on 1995 so that would make her around 22-23 years old when this happened.

Misconception #11: "Melanie Martinez is rude to her fans."
Melanie has never been rude or mean to her fans. She has always been vocal about how much she appreciates the love she receives from her supporters. Here is a snippet from a 2019 interview.

Out of respect of Jennette McCurdy I'm not going to post the edited gif. But rest assured, it wasn't CSAM. The edited gif came from a season 3 episode called "iWas a Pageant Girl." As you can see the scene which the edited gif originated from is in no way sexual in nature
"iWas a Pageant Girl" is Melanie's favorite episode of iCarly because it reminds her of her childhood when she used to play as a fashion model. It is important to point out that Melanie herself didn't make the gif as it was suggested to her by Tumblr Gifs Search Results.
The most likely explanation is that Melanie wanted a gif from that episode, found a gif who was recommended to her by Tumblr, didn't thought much of it & ended up using it. Not justifying what she did but people's reactions got blown way out of proportion for using a gif.
If you want to learn more about it, I'm going to leave a threadreaderapp archive which goes into further detail:
Explaining Melanie Martinez's Cry Baby era and discussing rumors/misconceptions surrounding it for people to stop misinterpreting it:

Misconception #14: Explaining the dice-rolling situation
Timothy previously stated that she was abused by Melanie while playing a Valentine's Day Kit together. But there's one small detail that not a lot of people seemed to had pointed out: The Kit was a dice-rolling game
"I remember as a kid when a teacher would get reported with a student, the news would portray it as a teacher-student affair instead of calling it what it is, which is abuse and really just that teacher exerting the power of their age over a child"

Misconception #19: "Melanie scammed her fans with an AI Meet & Greet."
The package said "Access to the Interactive Portals Photo Experience." I know that the word interactive is a buzzword for AI but it was just a video of Melanie meeting people that she filmed beforehand
Misconception #20: "This thread is full of victim-blaming."
The act of recollecting data is not victim-blaming. Disproving presented evidence is not victim-blaming. Pointing out that an alleged victim of sexual assault purposely falsified evidence is not victim-blaming.
I caught on that the fandom is always going to be perceived as wrong no matter the context: When we provide no evidence we were being rape apologists, when we provide enough evidence we are being insensitive, but if we provide too much evidence we are also victim-blaming.
When presenting evidence in any case it is vital to decide how important/believable your evidence is. The more relevant/valuable your evidence is, it will have more influence on the people you want to convince. If your evidence has no weight then people can't rely on it.
Atlantic isn't credited on SoundCloud, meaning that her label didn't provide her any of the equipments to make that song. Melanie produced it on her own. There's also speculation that Melanie's healer Raven helped her write it but I couldn't find any proof for that claim.
Melanie did not insult anybody. The harshest term she used were the words "fake people," "plastic people" and "liars." Compare it to a real diss track like “Ms. Whitman” by Bhad Bhabie where she used terms like "bitch," "whore" and "stanky pussy."
youtube.com/watch?v=yo7_px…
On Piggyback, Melanie describes someone as their “one best friend.” This person is Jacqueline "Jackie" Molina. Jackie and Melanie have been friends since they were 5 years old in kindergarten and they are still friends to this day. Timothy was never Melanie's best friend.
These comments come from a place of anger rather than out of concern. You can be friends with your workmates while maintaining a healthy relationship with them. If Jackie didn't want/didn't like the job that is solely her decision to make.

Timothy and Maddie have been friends for years before 2017. Considering "Blue Shirt" giving wrong statements in the past, Globelamp admitting that she has lied and Eve's lack of humanity to be sexting minors, Timothy's friends (including Maddie), are not reliable sources.
I can make the same argument that Maddie & Timothy keep accusing Melanie of being an abuser with no evidence or testimonies. And people just keep taking their words for granted without doing any research. But my issues regarding Maddie's accusations go beyond these points
I have a problem with them using the terms "hooking up" & "sleeping together" as synonyms for "sexual abuse" & they never correcting themselves. They should know the difference between those terms & how to use them properly considering that they're SA survivors advocates.
Chapter Nine
You may be asking yourself: Why does Timothy keep insisting that she's telling the truth when she isn't? As much as I would like to give my opinion I'm confident that this thread speaks for itself. Here are the reasons of people that were personally affected:
On Piggyback, Melanie gives two reasons as to why Timothy lied: As a ruse to get famous & as retaliation because Timothy considers her a bad person & a bad friend. Globelamp gave another reason as to why Timothy lied, that being Timothy was bitter about Melanie's success.
Timothy has stated how much she wants to be left alone and Cry Babies/Earthlings are the ones who keep bringing up the accusations. Yet every time Melanie has a new project, or Melanie begins to get recognition for her work, she fusses over to ruin it.

Trigger warning: Online bullying & suicide
Despite calling herself a mental health advocate, Timothy Heller has no problem at all when her supporters tell Cry Babies/Earthlings they should off themselves for supporting Melanie Martinez.

People like to link this article to remind everyone that Melanie has SA accusations. But they always fail to mention that the article was made by Timothy & Maddie themselves, along with Alysia Stevenson who facilitated them to publish it.

Just like Maddie, Timothy befriended another journalist to write another biased article against Melanie. They have a known pattern of behavior of befriending people so they can slander Melanie on her behalf.

In June 2020, "Play Date" went viral on Tik Tok. Melanie originally planned do make a "Play Date Remix" featuring 100 Gecs. Then unsurprisingly, Timothy followed the band members on Instagram & contacted them to cancel the collaboration.
Archive: web.archive.org/web/2023080100…
Unless you really want be to believe that Timothy Heller coincidentally followed Dylan Marshall Brady and Laura Les hours before they were set to release a collaboration with Melanie and the song just got cancelled without any explanation

On Oct. 2020, Timothy's private Instagram page @/brainynoworky got leaked. The screenshots were taken using a Samsung Galaxy Product, which explains why the three dots from the Instagram posts are shown vertically instead of horizontally.

On December 2022, popular twitter account jimmyoutsold stated that Timothy reached out to him to talk about her alleged abuse back in 2017. He also stated that going viral could had been one of the main reasons why she posted her letter.
Archive: web.archive.org/web/2023000000…
Keep in mind that Jimmy was 14 when Timothy (being 25 at the time) reached out to him to talk about her alleged abuse in great detail which is extremely inappropriate. Adults shouldn't be talking about sexual abuse to minors unless it's a qualified teacher or an educator.
And most recently an account called @/heardsstan brought up the allegations again when Melanie released her third studio album PORTALS. They got suspended for hateful conduct & getting into fights with people for engagement.
Tweet 1 [Broken Link]:
x.com/heardsstan/sta…
You cannot be an advocate for sexual assault survivors and make these types of comments. It's appalling and it shows a lack of humanity. The group of people behind these accounts have always hated Melanie since the beginning.
Tweet 2 [Broken Link]: x.com/heardsstan/sta…
Ask yourself: Why are these people coming after Melanie when she was not even accused at the time? Maybe because they always hated her and now they are just using the accusations as an excuse to justify their hatred/hostility towards her.
Archive: web.archive.org/web/2023000000…
You don't need to lie to be believed. You don't need to film yourself pretending to be sad & posting it online to be believed. You don't need to falsely accuse your alleged abuser of them condoning pedophilia & them being a pedophile to be believed
archive.ph/FERCj
Be mindful of cognitive dissonance, investigate & don't be ignorant when people bring eyebrow-raising behavior coming from the accusers. Replying to people's concerns by calling them rape apologists without answering their questions shows a lack of emotional intelligence.
If you have the time you can also read the 250 tweets thread & see how my perspective has changed over the years. I think both threads complement each other very well. Don't use this thread as in instrument to attack anyone. Be the bigger person & don't fight with people.
Postscript 1: Trigger warning for drug shaming
I've seen people using Timothy's past history with drugs and prescription medicines to demean her / degrade her. I condemn this behavior. Drug shaming makes it harder for addicts to seek the help they need so be kind to them.
Postscript 2: The Frankie situation
Frankie was a Melanie fan and an in real life friend of Timothy years before 2017. After Timothy came out with her alleged story of abuse, she blocked both Frankie and her mom. Frankie's mom has stated that they are not friends anymore.
