From the moment Katsuki meets the arrogant idiot named Monoma, he...

At first, he barely pays attention to him. Katsuki only cares about those he thinks will be number one.
But then the moron goes and watches him die. (BakuDeku, Baku/Mono friendship)
Creepy Hands sure packs a hell of a punch even without his quirk, so...
Katsuki's unsure WHY he's there. It's like the weirdo just wants to come by to see he's not run-off before he brags about being 'in one piece' and leaves.
"Monoma watched you die." The words make him twitch against his bedding, his teacher not holding back. "The only way he could hold Shigaraki back was keeping his eyes open. Which means he couldn't look away from you."
"If you watched Midoriya die, and he came back, would you be okay?"
"That's fucking different."
"Why?" Katsuki clams up, and the Hobo nods like he understands. "It's different, but still traumatising."
It's actually a bit easier to have someone that he doesn't have a history with to talk to. No burdens or shame on his shoulders.
But he's so damn nosey, worse than Pinky or Round Cheeks.
Katsuki scoffs, stuffing a bite of his salad in his mouth before he shrugs with his good shoulder. "Fuck if I know."
"Their flirting is awful, a gruesome eyesore."
"Then stop looking."
Copy Cat waves him off. "I choose to only share my greatness with those who earn it."
"Talking real big for a guy who wears a tie unironically."
His extras accept Monoma, though struggle to understand. But how does he explain his death teethers them together?
But something about Loud Mouth's presence brings out a new side of Izuku.
Katsuki scowls when Izuku tenses, feeling like he's missing the punchline.
"What?" Not willing to lose some time to hang out with the nerd (which he's not going to explore), Katsuki sweeps his foot off the bed and kicks Loud Mouth. "Oi, get out of here and go bother Tumbleweed."
There's a history there.
Izuku jerks his head up, eyes wide like he's seeing a ghost. A few blinks clears up the look. "Ah, sorry. Guess I'm a little tired from training."
He spends some time silently watching the interactions between the two, trying to pick up on their dynamic.
But the looks, which hold some secret knowledge, make the nerd squirm in a way he hasn't since middle school.
"What, you worried I'm going to take your boy toy?" The idiot cackles.
"Wow, really? What's a guy have to do to be good enough for you? I mean, he's grown a quirk and totally killed a man for you-"
"What the hell are you talking about?"
The last time Katsuki's seen it was their first interaction in the hospital.
"You don't know."
"Nobody showed you the video?"
"Pull it up," is his demand, shoving the hand on his good arm into his pants pocket as Copy Cat mutters insults and starts typing.
Now he sees the way Deku shows up, the relief of 'making it' before seeing the carnage that Creepy Hands left.
But when he sees Izuku's wide eyes, his silent scream, and the way Blackwhip contorts with malice-
"Of course you haven't." Loud Mouth's comment makes Katsuki realize he's picked up the nerd's terrible habit of speaking his thoughts out loud. "Every time he becomes this monster, it's cause you're in some sort of danger."
"Ugh, you two are stupid." Parrot sighs, then tugs on his tie like he's annoyed. "Before the battle, Aizawa warned me of this."
"When we were planning, he told me all the surprises to be aware of on the battlefield." After brushing off his collar, Copy Cat turns toward him. "He said he knew Shigaraki would try to target you at one point, after seeing how badly Deku reacted in Jaku."
"What the hell," he whispers, looking back at the screen.
"I know how to get under someone's skin," Copy Cat says with too much pride. "I took one look at his adoration of you and knew you were his world before even he did."
But he doesn't need the answer, the flashback of their conversation with All Might filling his brain.
When they asked if he knew what triggered Blackwhip, Izuku cut himself off.
He HID it from Katsuki.
"Why would you assume that?"
"Because you died for him, and he killed for you." Loud Mouth rolls his eyes. "Two sides of one freaky coin."
He and Izuku are entwined, and no matter how many times one of them tries severing their threads, they're always stitched together again.
Even death doesn’t stop them.
But when he glances at the video on the laptop, Izuku freezes. Katsuki sees the dark emotion from before clearer now.
It's fear of Katsuki discovering the truth.
"No." Annoyed that he's so far behind, Katsuki moves across the room, snatching Deku's bicep before he can scamper away. "No more running from this, Izuku."
"What if I want to?"
"Huh?" Izuku snaps his head up, confused.
"I'm not going to sit here and third wheel this death-happy couple. Wait to kiss until I'm out of the room. Only you two would think this is romantic. Weirdos."
There's a lot they need to talk about. He hates that even now, Izuku feels he has to hide feelings from Katsuki.
But maybe he hasn't been exactly honest, either.
"If I trigger one quirk when I'm dying, do you think another one will go off if I kiss you?"
Which is fine; Katsuki needs those for something else, anyway.
About Deku's Blackwhip, and 'controlling his heart'.
That he owes Parrot a face blast for the shit he said before.
How float DOES kick in if Katsuki flusters the nerd enough.
But most of all, he learns how good Izuku's lips taste against his.
