Your gut is crying for help - here are 5 signs it's giving you that you've been ignoring:

#1 Coated tongue

This is SO common, yet people just brush their tongue and forget about it.

This coating is literally intestinal bacteria or fungi accumulating on your tongue.

Your gut is connected directly to your mouth.

If you have:

➜ Bacterial overgrowth (SIBIO)
➜ Candida
➜ Poor gut motility

these microbes will be abundant and move UP the gut, eventually on to your tongue.

See this all the time with our clients.

#2 Water retention / puffiness.

This can be in the face, or in any other area of the body.

People often think they need to lose fat when they just hold on to pounds of water.

Inflammation + excess estrogen are typically behind this.

The gut is a major source of both ⬇️

Dysbiosis (bad bacteria) + intestinal permeability (leaky gut) cause inflammation

which can invade the rest of the body:

➔ Serotonin
➔ Histamine
➔ Cytokines (TNFα, IL-1β, IL-6, etc.)

increase permeability of blood vessels, causing fluid to seep into your tissues.

Estrogen also decreases fluid excretion, contributing to water retention.

The gut is a major source of estrogen:

⬩Bacteria can re-activate estrogen when it should be excreted
⬩Inflammation poisons the liver, reducing estrogen detoxification
⬩Antimicrobials can lower estrogen

#3 Stool abnormalities

You don't want to think about poop but you need to.

3-4 is what you want.

Type 1-2 is suggestive of poor motility,

Type 5-7 is strongly suggestive of bad bacteria in the gut predominating.

➜ Colors other than dark brown
➜ Undigested food
➜ High urgency
➜ Less than 1 movement daily
➜ 4+ movements daily
➜ Burning / pain
➜ Needing to wipe a lot
➜ Blood
➜ Horrifying smell

are ALL warning signs that your gut is begging for support.

Don't ignore it.

#4 Foamy urine

Your urine should be very light and foamless, like water.

If it is thick and foamy, that's not a good sign.

The urine can contain multiple soap like substances in cases of poor health.

Some of these are bile acids from the gut.

Bacterial overgrowth in the gut can transform bile acids in the small intestine, damaging the gut lining.

This leads to leakage of bile acids across the gut barrier into the bloodstream.

The kidneys then filter out the excess bile acids into the urine.

You get foamy urine.

#5 A crash in energy after eating

Most gut bacteria contain endotoxin (LPS), which can impair energy production in our cells if absorbed into the blood.

Eating, especially meals high in fat, can increase the absorption of endotoxin into the blood and drive these symptoms.

Brain fog + fatigue can be cured with antibiotics.

People with persistent fatigue have higher levels of endotoxin,

along with other measures of leaky gut.

Eating feeds bacteria and increases endotoxin absorption - and thus can cause tiredness after meals.
