A sentence like "genetics dictate behavior" is naively metaphysical-- "genetics dictates" how so? Are these genes in the room with us right now? What language does it "dictate" in? Who granted "genetics" this authority? It's not even scientific, it's akin to saying "the animal ancestor spirits dictate behavior in animals"

The sentence "Genetics dictates behavior"
I said this was "naively metaphysical" -- to say "dictates" rather than "influence" is a step into metaphysics, a naive step, a foolish step. This is where this all started.
Genetics dictate behavior in animals but this would NEVER happen to humans!

This is what happens when people are unserious with language-- they take foolish steps, naive steps, into the metaphysical. They say "Genetics dictates behavior" -- when this is not true. They begin to make myths, seduced by their own rhetoric.
