The decree prevented the J*ws from relocating to the regions of Alsace and required that J*ws wishing to move to other regions of France to own or purchase land to farm. It also required them to refrain from engaging in any kind of money-lending activity (the law eventually placed these restrictions only on the J*ws of the northeast). Likewise, the decree required J*ws to serve in the French military, without any opportunity to provide a replacement.
