when katsuki and izuku got hospitalized after the war finally ended, everyone agreed to let the two of them be in the same room.

no one would want another of that what katsuki did the first time right? right.

luckily so, they did that because the moment izuku woke up, the first person he looked for was katsuki. he couldn't see him due to the partition, but he was instantly livid.

just as he was about to remove everything that was attached to him, aizawa came into the room.

“midoriya! stop that, bakugo is fine.” their sensei yelled. it made izuku stop successfully.

before aizawa got close to izuku, he pushed the curtain that's keeping katsuki from izuku's sight.

“he's just here, no need to go berserk.”

that calmed down izuku to the bones.

the moment the fighting stopped, all izuku wanted was to go to katsuki. to /see/ him alive, breathing, even if he had to crawl all the way to his beloved.

and he did crawl. but for some reason the moment he saw katsuki lying on the ground, not even sure if he's still breathing

izuku passed out. he was /so/ near, but he guessed his mind finally went to relax mode the moment he got a glance of katsuki.

they were found in that situation, both passed out but both are also in a position as if they were trying to reach one another.

that's why they decided to put them together in one room, thinking that would be for the best.

it is.

izuku's reaction the moment he woke up was enough proof that it was the best decision. for them to be together.

“sensei, c-can you tell me what happened? before i got to come back” izuku said, looking intently to his kacchan who's all beat up.

this is the worst condition he's seen katsuki. he felt like throwing up.

he couldn't protect him at all.

he knows katsuki doesn't need protection, but still, izuku wanted to do so.

he wanted to be a hero with that purpose in mind, to be able to protect. to save.

especially those who are very dear to him.

most especially, katsuki.

and the moment he heard what aizawa had to say, he felt like he was dy1ng all over again.

hearing how his kacchan was treated so roughly like that, all because of him. all that bullshit just to torment him. just because they've figured out where his moral compass relies.

and just before izuku could go into spiral, blaming himself for what had happened to katsuki, the said man spoke.

“i could hear your thoughts all the way through my unconscious brain, izuku”

izuku's world stopped, slowly his head whipped at katsuki's direction once again.

and there, there he sees his kacchan eye to eye. his eyes are wide open, those ruby eyes that he adores more than anything.

“kacchan...” he breathes.

that's when the dam broke loose as his tears won't stop falling from his eyes. it made katsuki chuckle.

“still a damn cry baby, i see” katsuki shook his head “i'm glad”

aizawa left the both of them when ensured that they were fine now, they just need to rest.

he'll talk to them some other time. he knows they need this for themselves.

izuku stood up to sit on katsuki bed, he needs to be near to katsuki as much as possible.

katsuki fathoms as to why izuku could now move, but he can't. he just deduced that's izuku's immunity to this for always being torn and beat up.

“i've seen everything from shigaraki's pov, you know. but i still asked sensei, hoping it was all an illusion to torment me. it broke me to know that it was true.” izuku said lowly, slowly squeezing katsuki's hand.

“i hate how you had to experience that”

izuku then looked at katsuki's eyes intently “i hate how i was the reason for that, kacchan” he said as his tears were slowly falling.

katsuki can hear the pain, fear, regret, and anger in his voice. but katsuki chose to smile, caressing izuku's face.

“it was all worth it though, izuku. i'm okay, i'm alive” he put izuku's hand just above his beating heart “it's beating. feel it.”

but instead of just using his hands, izuku leaned in and placed his ear on his chest. wanting to hear and feel it. it's what he needs.

katsuki slowly caressed izuku's hair

“it was scary, i wouldn't deny that. i cried, didn't i? i honestly thought i would di3, which i did, but i'm here now, izuku. i'm okay now, you can rest assure. don't go blaming yourself for a move that i made on my own+

+ i wanted to do that /for you/, i had to win. it actually makes me happy to know that i'm that important to you for everyone to notice like that” katsuki teased “so it's okay izuku, i'm okay”

izuku was just continuously sobbing on his chest as he talked.

he knows it wouldn't be easy for izuku, and him to be over about what happened to them. but katsuki also knows that they'll be fine.

they communicate. they've opened their hearts to each other now.

they're gonna be fine, they're safe.

they're finally in each other's arms.
