Izuku is taking on all the darkness and decay of hero society’s history. Everyone knows he needs help, but can only anxiously watch a desperate power struggle between ideals.

Great changes are coming; awakened hearts, hopes and dreams, Katsuki and Izuku…

A #MHA416 ANALYSIS 🧵!

There’s something deeply poignant about Izuku, MHA’s strongest hero, struggling on his own with sheer desperation etched on his whole face… and even a little girl understanding she “needs to help him” at all costs. 416 recollects Izuku’s positive force of change on society. 💚

Eri-chan is immediately shot back, despite her desire to help, she has not the means or power to. But many others are feeling her sense of anxiety and fear.

One of the unkind civilians from U.A who angrily rejected Izuku when he needed to rest listens in on their conversation.

Ectoplasm saying, “You don’t have the energy to rewind,” means “This isn’t an issue that quirks can quick-fix.”

The “Even if you do go, there’s almost no MEANING to it,” is because not just anyone can change the course of history, together with Izuku. But they can still believe.

She has a flashback of telling Izuku her dream. Izuku, Jirou & Mina are blushing — that’s why I think it has something to do with the concert and dance collaboration they put on. Something like “I wanna be a pop star” instead of the “I wanna be a hero” that everyone always said.

So Izuku must work even harder to help the world get to a place where all kinds of dreams can thrive!

Hero society itself had lost the power to dream for more in life. Hero status gave the world recognition, money, fame, security… but dreams had withered away with the heart. 📖

Izuku has given back the dreams of everyone whose life and heart he has touched. Along with Eri-chan, Izuku helped Kacchan and Kirishima with waking up their heart inside

(What ties their three heroic awakenings together is the sludge incident and “Living life without regrets.”)

Kota & Eri-chan represent a future MHA society that can dream again - its transition into being able to empathise and reach out to those in pain. Special powers aren’t needed for something so simple. Only a heart that cares and sees another person’s suffering as their own.

Kota speaks of the heart’s desire to help Izuku. The U.A civilian remembers Izuku’s tears and society’s responsibility to act as one united collective. He puts it all together. He can’t do anything for Izuku… but he can start by believing in him and all hearts Izuku fights for.

I wanna mention how throughout KamiMomo’s conversation, we are seeing all kinds of people helping those who are struggling out. Even Momo is a shoulder for Kaminari to lean on. Society’s entering a new era where nobody gets left behind & everyone is a hero, but they’re anxious…

Yaomomo notes the darkness in Izuku. Callback to vigilante arc. This is symbolic in many ways, like the pain he is going through in taking society’s darkness all on himself, nurturing people’s desires to want to help him out. And it sounds like Izuku’s in need of some light. ✨

Kaminari recognises Izuku is not the typical hero of a shounen manga. Izuku is strongest in the world like the other shounen MCs, but there are some things too heavy even for him to carry alone. “Symbol of Peace” is a responsibility that’s meant to be carried by everyone.

Kaminari knows that Izuku is in trouble and he is not used to feeling worry for the future. He trusts Izuku, but knows Izuku isn’t enough for what needs to be accomplished. It’s something that Izuku’s been doing together with one other person since the very start of the manga…

Overcoming the curse of history; the prejudice, apathy and mediocrity that quirk society continuously propagated and cultivated within its hero culture. Under AFO’s continued quest for power, the human heart had decayed.

Izuku and Katsuki are awakening humanity’s heart together.

Kacchan’s determination and Izuku’s heart represent Nietzche’s “will to power”, a feeling that MHA’s world of The Last Man has desperately needed instilled inside to cure it. Great societal transformation can be felt brewing, and that’s why people are anxious about the future.

I think only bkdk united can change history’s course. They are the pillars of the class, as Aizawa said, who have a power inside them to motivate and lift everyone up. I don’t think Izuku is the Übermensch… I think they both are TOGETHER. Think class pillars… except worldwide!!

They both influenced each other’s lives and heart. Izuku was inspired by Katsuki’s determination and will to succeed and surpass every obstacle in his path, even himself!

Katsuki represents quirk society and its incoming enlightenment - society’s need and ability to “go beyond.”

And what Katsuki (quirk society) needed to do that, was understanding Izuku’s caring & heroic heart. We saw a battle of wills in Katsuki vs AFO, which displayed a boy’s ability to and desire for change. And during Izuku’s battle, we see a boy’s ability and desire to revive hearts

MHA wields Hegelian Dialect best by its constant synthesis of Izuku and Katsuki’s contrasting traits. Everything after “Their feelings are one” showcases what their mutual inheritance of All Might’s legacy has led to: the power of bkdk’s unity to bring forth the dawn of a new age

Izuku's and Jirou's expressions are able to revive hope and passion in people’s hearts because they’re both desperately affirming their own existence. Society had lost its sense of self, so Izuku and Katsuki will ignite MHA’s decayed world into a hopeful one with dreams again! ✨

Ochaco and Shoto are out of commission… Eri-chan, the civilians and Izuku’s friends being unable to help now speaks volumes that it’s Kacchan’s time to shine his light on Izuku’s darkness once more soon, helping him “finish the job” of taking care of AFO and saving Shigaraki.

For everyone watching them, Kacchan will be the embodiment of society’s desire to reform like he did and the spirit of lending a helping hand out to people in need before they run themselves ragged.

Katsuki’s dedication to Izuku is symbolic of society’s dedication to the heart.

Katsuki providing society wish fulfilment gives him a more pronounced status as its symbol and helps refocus him as just a boy born into a decayed world which had forgotten the human heart.

We get to see bkdk’s love story play out while he saves Izuku in their stead, too. 🧡💚

Bkdk’s union serves incredible purpose in so many different ways; narratively, spiritually, philosophically, romantically…

Every time I think about all the deep meaning inside their crucial partnership, I’m left in complete awe of Horikoshi’s beautiful mind and gentle heart. 💕

Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed! ✨

Poll time! When do you think Kacchan will come back in time to save Izuku?

I heard whispers of his birthday chapter.

418 to mirror 318’s “He’s here!”? Izuku was being buried in hands…

In 420, I bet he helps kick AFO’s ass again! 💥🤭

I love the philosophical impact bkdk’s unity has on the new order. Their duality of being an epic love story… but also “the chosen queer hero couple who will bring in a new age” which coincides with redefining the shounen genre and inspiring readers to see everyone as people. ❤️

Here is the Shigaraki side of this thread!

Hegel’s dialectic proliferates all throughout MHA so it’s important to understand both sides stories when it comes to “what’s right” and this is a topic I’ll be exploring in the future. ❤️

Shigaraki plays a vital role in MHA history’s dialectic as the destructive force that was needed to “destroy” the *current idea* of “hero” for his new “Horizon”… his ideal world without so much suffering.

His memory swap with Izuku vividly conveys a synthesis of their ideals. +
