If I were creating an advertorial for Yard Lights

This would be the exact process I’d follow:

1 - Initial research
I like to start out by looking at customer reviews, and post-purchase surveys

Outside of that, we have a questionnaire we have clients fill out that helps bring in a lot of proof points about the product (number of units sold, etc.)

Then occasionally I’ll look at Facebook comments on our ads and our competitor's ads as well as forums to get a better understanding of the market

2 - Competitor analysis
Seeing what advertorials have worked in the past is extremely helpful

In this case, multiple advertorials have worked that can be used for inspiration.

3 - Brainstorming
The main 3 types of advertorials I like to start with are

• Listicle
• Personal Story
• Breaking news

In this listicle breaking news is likely the best, but with the right angle personal story could work.

4 - Image and design
The top image of an advertorial is one of the most important images and helps get people scrolling down the page. In this case, showing the product or a before and after of the yard would be the best.
