The Nietzscheans still don’t read Nietzsche:
“I must be profoundly related to Byron's Manfred: of all the dark abysses in this work I found the counterparts in my own soul-at the age of thirteen I was ripe for this book. Words fail me” (Ecce Homo)

Me: “Nietzsche was an anglophile who finds himself wrapped up entirely in the tradition of British Romantic Poetry. Byron & Emerson & Carlyle & Shakespeare &c— you can find his entire philosophy disclosed earlier in british poetry”
Nietzscheans: “What? Have you even read him?”
Nietzscheans: “What? Have you even read him?”

I am so tired of midwits pretending that they have read more about the things I write about than I have— they read a few pieces of Nietzsche but not the whole corpus in a greater context of poetic development— Nietzsche is only “novel” if you read very little
4
So when I say something like “Nietzsche’s entire philosophy derives from him being a thirteen year old pastor’s son who became enamored with Lord Byron” — these midwits think I’m making shit up as a meme when this is just facts.
5
Nietzsche is also not unique in this— Byronism & Bonapartism were the poetic avant garde of European letters— Pushkin & Dostoevsky &c are engaging in this same development— Goethe was profoundly influenced by Byron— Nietzsche only became “influential” in the 20th century
6
Melville for instance is a contemporary of Nietzsche addressing the same concerns, Whitman was as well. Nietzsche does not have any *unique* contribution to poetry or philosophy.

Nietzsche was first translated as a defender of Social Darwinism— the “British Anarchist/Nihilist” tradition of Eugenics— & he was read in this light. That’s why he’s useful in consolidating “NATO” — British & German “individualistic cosmopolitanism” — Liberalism
