Translating otokonoko, "male girl", as "femboy" is fine and makes sense.

But it's funny to act like a cultural identity where *most* adults are transfem/genderqueer (otokonoko) is somehow anti-trans (westoid "femboys") is peak westoid touristslop.

It borders on mistranslation.

There have been multiple transfem/genderqueer ppl from Japan here on twitter giving their cultural context on this subject and how they use the term otokonoko.

And yet, westoids have conveniently ignored and silenced them to keep pushing this nonsensical cultural crusade going.

Here's a graph literally showing how half of otokono "zone" is filled with transfem ppl and goes even further w genderqueer people.

But westoid tourists want to convince you that the cultural crusade theyve made up is real (by appropriating and distorting japanese culture).
